I like Tarpit a lot, especially its control of compression, extensions, and-yes-resource forks. Versions above 1.2 crash on my 10.3.9 system, though.

Does TarPit divide OS 9/Classic files, Solomon-like, and discard the resource forks? Nice idea, but all Mac OS X tar automation needs a MacBinary step in the case of legacy files.
