i'm afraid $10 just about buys a beer in europe at the moment - and that seems a bit cheap.

TrackDesigner CommentaryPrice $30? - Version: 1.2.2, 1/9/2005 11:48AM PST

Dester Wallaboo
$30 seems a tad steep for a program that is pretty much for laying out slot car tracks. $10 seems more in line with reality.

if the app doesn't load at all its quite likely the unix permissions (from reading other comments on versiontracker there appears to be a bug in stuffit 8 that can cause them to get muddled). I can tell you how to fix this but it involves using the command line; let me know if you want to try.

was developed on 10.3.5 so not the system. Don't have a G5 but can't see how that could make a difference as long as the system is the same. Could you send me any error messages from the Console app ? I will retest on 10.2, could be a bug crept in on the last update.

TrackDesigner CommentaryLooks OK.... - Version: 1.2, 9/7/2004 04:11PM PST

But WILL NOT run on a G5 OS X 10.3.5. Tried it on two different machines....nada.
10.2.8 on an iMac, it launches, can ad track but crashes as soon as the mouse touches a piece to add it to the layout.

TrackDesigner ReviewThis is fun ! - Version: 1.1, 8/26/2004 11:52AM PST

Been using this for a few weeks now. A few idiosyncracies but basically very easy to use and actually fun in itself ! My 6 year old was able to lay track with no help and has now mastered the other features. Oviously the traffic lights and engine sounds go down very well with him but its also educational as it teaches problem solving and helps him think geometrically.

Addition of labels on the layouts is very useful since some sections do look the same and also it can be difficult to tell which curve is which just looking at them. Glad the power-base has now been sorted, this was a serious flaw.

Seems to be accurate; I've layed out 107 sections and the software agrees with the floor !

I can recommend this. It probably won't suit the serious enthusiast because it only allows two lanes but its fun to use, saves a lot of time and lets you design layouts you'd probably never get round to without it. With the dollar worth so little at the moment for those of us in the UK its a bargain at less than the cost of the cheapest car.

This will be a fantastic tool once it is developed a little further. I was using some older PC software to design my tracks, can't wait for a proper OSX tool.
