Not the cheapest, but very easy to use, versatile and quick. Worth the $$.

Hi, it's hard to make it smaller due to the amount of controls. But I've managed to get the height down to 550 px, which, if you use 800x600, will be enough. I've made a special version availble at http://redpro.se/Filenamer_small.sit. Download, unpack and replace the original file in your FileNamer folder.
Thanks for your input, I'll probably make this standard in the soon to come final version.

Would like to use this but I can't! I have a 13in viewing area on my monitor and I canot see the buttons at the bottom to run it. The screen is not adjustable. It seems it can only be used with one screen size. Hopefull this will be updated to fit all screens. Again would like to use this for renaming picture folders.

I just used this to rename two batches of files -- each over 80 files. Each setup step worked as stated and previews were displayed. It only took seconds for the renaming process to occur. I prefer this configuration to other renamers I have used.

... but how hard I try I can't get FileNamer not to rename in that situation. However if you would contact me at support@redpro.se, I could get more details about it and be able to duplicate your problem.
Did you filter by extension in the first renaming operation? If so, and if you didn't remove that filter in the second (adding .mp3 again), it shouldn't show you anything, and you shouldn't be able to rename since you didn't have any extension.
Handy utility, but had problems... - Version: 1.0b2, 3/19/2004 10:00AM PST

I successfully shortened some filenames and lost the extensions (my fault, no big deal). When I went to reattach the extension (mp3) it didn't work. Filenamer would neither change the preview list nor the actual file names. I realize its a beta version, so I'm happy to wait as bugs are worked out.
