Product Description:

MacTheRipper is a DVD extractor for MacOS X. It removes CSS encryption, Macrovision protection, sets the disc's region to '0' for region-free, and has the ability to disable RCE region checking. It does not depend on the drive to retrieve the keys to unlock the DVD, so therefore, it is unnecessary to play the DVD with DVD Player to unlock it, making it easier to backup DVDs from other regions. It also copies DVDs with ARccOS copy protection.

What's new in this version:

  • Added the ability to extract DVDs with ARccOS copy protection, along with new Full Disc and Main Feature modes for those discs which get activated automatically on ARccOS DVDs
  • Added the ability to handle VOBs with bad sectors, which get padded with dummy data, and notify the user at the end of extraction that read errors were encountered
  • Added bad cell detection in Title Only and Title ¬タモ Chapter modes, so they automatically get skipped; useful for ARccOS DVDs
  • Added the ability to demux elementary streams in Title Only and Title ¬タモ Chapter modes, along with the ability to choose which streams will get extracted
  • Removed deprecated preferences
  • Fixed large crashing bug that occurs if the user chooses Title Only extraction, and then immediately chooses another mode
  • Fixed a bug in Non-PGC Title Only and Title ¬タモ Chapter modes where the output would be incorrect
  • Fixed a crashing bug on certain DVDs with particular IFO issues
  • Reduced the amount of UI updates during extraction to hopefully reduce the amount of crashes on certain computers, namely dual-processor Macs
  • Improved progress bar accuracy
  • Removed ¬タリReal Time¬タル prescan option in the preferences, as Pre Scan is required for certain functions to work properly now, including ARccOS detection and chapter extraction

that this version is better than MTR 3 which took the developer forever to finish
Some thought he was stalling for more donations
He says her was going through a breakup
fine, but why make us suffer?
Finally they got to release 3.0rc 'm'
which I think means he gave up on it in beta

Easy to use but I have found two problems with it;

1. After ripping about 2/3rds of the way through there is a slip screen. The top half continues it the movie, while the bottom half is a still of a previous frame from the movie.

2. After converting and burning to a dvd my player display's a message "HD format not supported" so I can't watch it.

MacTheRipper is one of the best Mac programs I've ever used. It's intuitive, reliable and fast. It's worth any amount of a donation, and is far better than any commercial product I've tried. Combine all this, with prompt, courteous support and you got one of the best utilities available for the Mac. If I could, I'd give it 10 stars!
