SwitchTop isn't worth the money -- it's an easy concept to implement on your own. I put together an alternative script that does the same (slightly less user-friendly, since it's a script, not an application):
<p>
<a href="http://www.cs.earlham.edu/~hyrax/switchdesktop.pl">http://www.cs.earlham.edu/~hyrax/switchdesktop.pl</a>
<p>
Plus, this implementation keeps the physical arrangement of the items.

Does what it says but after switching the icons are not in the same place you left them... This isn't horrible but if you arrange groups of items while you are working on them it could be very annoying if you had many icons for a project all placed neatly on the desktop then when you switch back they are all on the right side of the screen in alpha order... so while this is a nice idea until they work out keeping your icons in the place you left them it's not worth $10.00
