Product Description:

Curio is the premier mind mapping, brainstorming, and project management application designed to promote visual thinking. Using Curio's innovative freeform interface and tools, you can intuitively gather, associate, and recall your ideas, while easily managing all the notes and documents associated with your project. Curio's extensive feature-set includes tools to help you define the goals and scope of a project, collect research and take notes, brainstorm with mind maps, outline ideas and create to-do lists, construct conceptual diagrams and flowcharts, and even sketch out designs with pressure-sensitive pens. Also includes sophisticated archiving and built-in presentation capabilities.

What's new in this version:

  • Fixed problem where dates associated with figures had invalid time values associated with them which caused confused sorting in the Status shelf.
  • Robustness check when manipulating mind maps and lists which should hopefully take care of the rare crash that some folks are experiencing.
  • Fixed problem where the Curio "Add to Scrapbook" Services item would not grab rich text from Safari.
  • Got rid of the Evernote Premium banner.
  • You can now set the delay in seconds when dragging in "promised files" from other applications using this hidden preference:defaults write com.zengobi.curio "Promised Files Delay" -float 1.0 This might be a useful preference to tweak if Curio has problems grabbing messages with large attachments dragged in from Mail, for example. Note the default is just 0.1 seconds.
  • Improved robustness checks when performing common operations to help squash that undo bug.

Curio 5 requires Leapord (Mac OS 10.5). Tiger is no longer supported. Too bad, but there must be a good reason to require it.

Curio has long been an innovative product, and version 5 continues to expand its capabilities as a creative organization tool. The new web views, and cross project linking are something I've wanted for a long time. The new project organization functions and iCal syncing are items I had even thought would make it in to the product any time soon, yet here they are. This is a great product which is open on my desktop all day every day, and is an excellent example of great Mac software. It isn't OmniOutliner, or OmniGraffle, or Yojimbo, or Microsoft Project, but it is an elegant combination of many of their features, and more. I'm definitely a satisfied user. Can't wait to see where they go with Curio 6.

Curio CommentaryFree upgrade? - Version: 5.0, 8/14/2008 12:23AM PST

A question to the previous reviewer. Where can people get that "free upgrade" to version 5?

<b>"Discounted Curio 5 upgrade licenses are available to current Curio 4 (and earlier) customers, check the online store for details."</b>

Zengobi's store shows "Upgrade to Curio 5 Pro from older Curio Pro 69.00"

Originally I was not even going to upgrade to version 4 based on Zengobi's upgrade policy. I upgraded once they had an attractive discount. Their policy has not improved. I may eventually upgrade if the price is attractive, but by now I prefer to support other developers.
