Product Description:

PlistEdit Pro is the most advanced property list editor written for Mac OS X. Property list files are used throughout Mac OS X, and with PlistEdit Pro, users can easily change these files and exert finer control over their systems. You can use PlistEdit Pro in your development work, and its built-in preference file browser lets you explore and tweak your system's settings to your heart's content.

Some of PlistEdit Pro's features include
  • Full drag and drop and copy/paste support
  • Full keyboard navigation of the interface
  • The ability to view and edit a property list both in an outline and as raw text
  • Extensive Applescript support, for automating processes involving property list files
  • Property list definitions, which make editing common forms of property lists less cumbersome
  • Full multi-level undo support
  • Powerful find/replace capabilities
  • A built-in window to browse through your preference files
  • Customizable fonts

What's new in this version:

  • We now support editing any files on the system, prompting for an admin password to save changes when necessary
  • Added autocompletion when entering data. Suggestions for keys and values are provided based on existing content in the property list and information found in plist definitions
  • Plist definitions are now enabled by default. This makes autocompletion much more useful, especially when editing Info.plist files
  • Updated plist definition files with new keys for Leopard, and added new definitions for Xgrid, Podcast Producer, iPhoto, and iTunes
  • Added a new data formatter for viewing Carbon-style dates stored as a number of seconds since 01/01/1904
  • You can now set up and save property list browser configurations, which gives easy access to all plist files in one or more directories on your system
  • The minimum system requirement has changed from 10.3.9 to 10.4.0

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC

How long does it take to get the email response that has my registration serial number.

That serial number appeared very briefly in the html page that came back, but I did not have an opportunity to write it down.

Help!!!

PlistEdit Pro ReviewSimply no alternatives to PlistEdit Pro - Version: 1.2.1, 6/5/2006 08:13AM PST

If you have to deal with plists (as a programmer/developer -- as a sysadmin -- as someone who knows about the advantages of tuning your system and apps -- for troubleshooting), and you haven't worked with PlistEdit Pro yet, you should try it. The sooner the better.

Feature set and quality of implementation are above average. Editing plists is fun and easy, just as it should be.
For me, PlistEdit Pro's AppleScript support is very welcome, and now it even has a command line tool.

Thanks, Brian, for the fantastic work.

As a programmer, this tool is a godsend. As stated below, this is what Apple's Property List Editor should have been at the core. But this is also much more than that. It's what Plist Editor should have been x 3. I use plist files for a lot of my apps, and this thing saves me at least 1 hour in time (seriously).
