Auto Hide By Default - Version: 1.25, 4/4/2009 08:42AM PST

HideItControl does have a hide by default function. Just select Single Application Mode. While it doesn't have a way to exclude selected applications, just hold the Shift key when switching to another application. This disables HideItControl. A great piece of software. Indispensible.

Working alternative!
I never got the donation version working (stayed crippled), no answer from the developer. I to did not like the reversed settings.
But today I found _almost_ what I have been looking for for years, trying; Shoo Apps, Spirited Away and living with App Presto (in Rosetta), comparable to ApplWindows on OS9.

Lacks 'never hide when switching to', but is close, and actively developed, so it may be implemented?

Since updating to Leopard (and now Snow Leopard), Quicksilver, another useful utility which I still use, has been unable to hide background applications.
Enter HideItControl, which does the job, not only nicely, but much more quickly than Quicksilver did.
As mentioned in a previous review, there is an option to hide all background apps, and that is the single application mode. With HideItControl's single application mode, application window clutter is now a thing of the past on my machine.
Thanks much!
