A first-class utility that no serious Mac user should be without. No matter how handy you are with the terminal, you can't possibly remember every command that's available in Clix.

Kudos to Rixstep for continuing to maintain this invaluable piece of software - and keeping it free!

CLIX CommentaryWhere's version 2.0.0.2? - Version: 2.0.0.2, 3/1/2009 03:57PM PST

I downloaded from this link and "Get Info" on the standalone app shows version 2 with a creation date of 2/26/09 1:00.

So then I tried direct from the developer's site and got the same product.

VersionTracker Pro is confused too...keeps showing my 2.0 as being outdated.

Hats off to Rick and Rixstep for their quick fix of the problem. This is a terrific and useful piece of software based on an interesting concept which gives us a fascinating insight into the Unix command line roots of OS X. I like it :)

CLIX CommentaryTwo Binaries - Version: 2.0.0.1, 2/27/2009 12:09AM PST

For now there are two app bundles in this release. Instead of thinning a universal yourself simply remove the bundle you don't want. They're packaged in each their directory - i386 and ppc. Please make sure you know which one to remove! Of course the easiest way is to try to run both. Only one will run if you're on a PPC box - save that one.

Intel users don't have to worry about this as both will run on their systems but it's useless to keep the ppc bundle anyway. So just remove it.

This will do until someone at this end figures out why the thinned PPC binary works on PPC boxes but the universal doesn't.

Thanks for the help and here's hoping this one runs OK for PPC users.

A tip: people at this end don't stop by here too often. If something like this happens don't wait around here for a reply. Go to the forum. There are always people around there who are ready to help. Or write directly. Cheers.

There is an issue with CLIX 2 on PPC. It works if you prune the binary.

Drop down to a command line and go to CLIX.app/Contents/MacOS. Then run the following command.

/usr/bin/lipo CLIX -thin ppc -output CLIX

We'll get back to you as soon as we find the logical bomb in running a universal on PPC. Sorry about this.

Cheers.

What the hell is ".bz2" and how the hell do I open it?

Why can't people stick to common compression methods?

CLIX Usage TipCLIX 2.0 will not launch - Version: 2.0, 2/25/2009 04:04PM PST

Leopard v10.5.6 (9G55) PPC

The CLIX 2.0 icon bounces up-and-down in the Dock a few times, and then vanishes.

No Console entries, no Crash reports - nothing.

Sadness.

On April, I posted a WRONG comment about Rixstep. On October, I tryed to say sorry to Rixstep: I hope that the people that read my comment, could reed my "SORRY":

I must to apologize to Rixstep for my commentary on Rixstep (beware of Rixstep, as of April 2008).

I am not undestandig what is happened.

I know that Rixstep is contacting me.

I was WRONG.

I'd like that all the people who read my commentary could read this commentary, too.

I hope to enjoy Rixstep's software for a long, long time.
