iTuner ReviewNice little app -- could be more customizable - Version: 2.2, 4/15/2004 07:12AM PST

iayork
This is a nice little application that isn't much different from several other nice little iTunes-interface apps. As with almost all of these apps this one lacks a customizable list of display options: in particular iTunes (like most others) will not show Composer instead of (or as well as) Artist. Are there no programmers who listen to classical music? Aside from this (and some non-standard interface choices, as others have pointed out, that are still quite clear) there's nothing particular wrong with iTuner, but I also don't see any particular advantage over some of the other options.

I like the non-standard interface immensely. Overall, this tool offers a great deal in small package, including access to the often overlooked quick scripts.

iTuner ReviewGreat product...still a few problems - Version: 2.2, 4/14/2004 07:25PM PST

Wonderwall385
First off, this is an amazing application with a lot of usefulness. I like the new font, icon, and other interface changes a lot. There are a few things you could add to make it more user-accessible:

1) Make the window adjustable in the bottom right-hand corner so the user can see the full names of songs, albums, artists etc. if they are too big, but still keeping all of the buttons, words, and lists on the left (not centered) while you make the windown bigger.
2) The buttons could also be cleaned up a bit, this seems to be a problem with every version now.
3) In "About" and "Hide" in the menu options, put "iTuner" in place of "Application".

iTuner ReviewOK but has a "standards" issue - Version: 2.2, 4/14/2004 11:15AM PST

Needs to adhere to the standard that most every app for the Mac does.
Settings should be Preferences and located under the application name in the menu bar. About should be About iTuner instead of the default of "Application".
Volume is not live like the system volume is....drag and then let go to hear the change. Should and can be live.

Has a ways to go..nice effort...just some details to polish up.

iTuner Reviewfonts... - Version: 1.9, 3/21/2004 11:13AM PST

goulsbra
seem to be a problem still... symbols on the buttons are some way off (especielly the play symbol is outside the button, but only while the app is in the foreground! in the background it's almost ok...). playlist name is illegible. track info (which needn't be bold in my opinion) gets truncated by the small window...
there seems to be some work to be done... good idea and some potential, though.

iTuner Troubleshooting ReportFont Problem - Version: 1.9, 3/21/2004 05:54AM PST

I'm using Extensis Suitcase X1 v 11.02 and have pruned the fonts in my system for prepress purposes. I've obviousy pruned a font that iTuner wants because the controller displays the box-like Asian characters. Can developer or anyone tell me what font to replace?

iTuner Troubleshooting Reportmemory leak v 1.7 - Version: 1.7, 3/2/2004 12:54AM PST

Hawaiian Starman
Photopshop slowed to a crawl. Through process of elimination determined the culprit was a memory leak from v1.7 (iTunes was not active at the time). After quiting iTuner, operation returned to normal processing speed. Panel menu screens seem too tight as text becomes unreadable until menu is accessed. Also, iTuner does not retain "last playlist" setting, rather reverts to Library folder on the restart.

Well conceived app. 3 stars for design, 5 stars when the above memory leak is fixed.

iTuner Commentaryincredibly promising little app! but needs some common sense work - Version: 1.7, 2/28/2004 04:02AM PST

I really love the rating feature and the slide-out drawer idea, although it seems a bit quirky. My main gripe is that the super minimal mode is TOO minimal, with only the play/next. I'd also like to be able to see the current song name, and possibly the rating part, without opening the slider drawer. Also, it's REALLY annoying how it doesn't continuously update the current song time/name/etc. Really though, these are just helpful comments for an app that's in its baby stages. I hope you keep working on it and make it super awesome!
