TunesTimer CommentaryMissing the point - Version: 1.1, 2/8/2004 08:54PM PST

Mikuro
The point of this program isn't to tell you how long your iTunes playlist/library is. iTunes already does that. The point is to tell you how long you've LISTENED to your iTunes library. It does this, as it clearly states in the description, by multiplying the time of each track by the play count for that track. So one 4-minute song played 5 times means you've spent 20 minutes playing it. It is ultimately kinda pointless, but I think it's neat nonetheless.

Or at least, the IDEA is neat. I can't get the actual app to work. First of all, it's in a .sit, and when you unstuff it, it won't load at all, because .sits aren't OS X-friendly. You'll need to download Guillotine to get it to run. But even after that, I can't get it to actually DO anything. I've entered playlist names, song names and artist names into the search field, but nothing returns any results. And worse yet, there is no included documentation. All I have to go on is the picture they have on the web site, which shows that I should be able to search by artist name.

I don't like to review programs when I can't get them to work at all, but just be aware that this release has its problems. Hopefully an update will be released soon, because again, I think it's a neat idea.

but number one, when I type anything into the search box the app crashes, and just selecting the files you want to see as a "how long" group doesn't work...

I would like to give it high marks, but not till these things work.

g4 10.3 blah blah 2gigs o mem.

also one 1 min 18 sec 56kbs file showed up as a 9hour.. something minute file.

overall iTunes says 21 days o music... tunestimer says 35 days.

I believe iTunes.
