New Driver Update 6.1.15.100 ships with Retrospect update 6.1.230 (which is now universal: PPC/Intel). I haven't seen this RDU posted on VT yet.

Retrospect Works - Version: 6.1.14.101, 4/25/2008 09:18AM PST

I'm amused by the whining as well. I've been using Retrospect successfully for almost a year and a half to manage backups of OSX desktops, Xserves, Windows, and Red Hat servers. I'm not saying its the best tool for the job, but it gets the job done.
This driver update isn't mission critical to my workflow, so I didn't apply it.

It works

I find it funny reading all the posts here.. I am in an Advertisement Agency where Retrospect has been for years of Main Back up program. It just works, I maybe have had three problems over the many years and with it was great support and answers to correct the problem. We are backing up Old G4's to Intel's to our one PC's all being sent to our xServe that is running Retrospect. It has saved us valuable time and finally two weeks ago had to recover a complete backup... and it did.

Long Live Retrospect.
It is so sad to see what was formerly a GREAT product die on the vine from complete lack of care. What a disgrace that every company since Dantz has tried to eke what dollars it could from the Mac market whilst simultaneously abandoning it. What a disgrace.
Here's the bottom line: it's not you. It's not your config. It's not your hardware.
The problem is Retrospect. Stop wishing it weren't so and move on. Check out BRU. Or try SuperDuper in a push-type backup scenario. At least they work.
Retrospect is dead. Has been for years.
Walk on. Nothing more to see here.

Brand-new Maxtor 1Tb HDD + Retrospect = doorstop/blinking-brick - Version: 6.1.11.101, 7/26/2007 08:50AM PST

I've never been subjected to as much runaround and useless finger-pointing as I have for the last FOUR DAYS, just trying to get my iMac (intel) to work with this new Maxtor terabyte-brick via Firewire 800, and the horrendous Retrospect software that came with it. I've called Apple, I've called Dantz and searched every forum from here to Timbuktu, and I'm going to just send the thing back and get a Seagate, just so I can use the freebie app from Acronis anyway.
The Maxtor talks with the iMac just dandy via the Firewire 800, the problem is that launching the fabled "One-Touch" - for which this Maxtor is named - results in either a "authenticateuser app" failure (Retrospect) or... absolutely nothing, nada, zip.
Two calls to Seagate's support (Seagate bought Maxtor late last year) resulted in an emailed .iso (which pre-dates the update on this page by THREE YEARS) that also doesn't work!
For the hundreds of bucks I spent for this brick on my desk, it shouldn't take four *&^$%&*-ing days to install it, with no success in sight!
Now I know where this software got its name: in RETROSPECT, I'd have bought something else.

IMac Core Duo Fix - Version: 6.1.11.101, 7/15/2007 07:58AM PST

I upgraded to 11.100 and nothing would work. Retrospect would freeze / kernel panic and I could not get CD's or DVD's to configure or work at all.
Here is the fix - go to Library/Preferences/Retrospect and remove all files named deviceXX.rdi (where XX is a number) I had 15 of them. I relaunched and then it saw the correct drive and worked like a charm

Don't upgrade unless something's broken. - Version: 6.1.11.101, 7/12/2007 03:24AM PST

After upgrading to 6.1.11.101, Retrospect asked for another backup member when I still had 1/2 the capacity left on the primary backup DVD. So the upgrade seems to have broken something that was functioning properly with the older driver (rdu619102), which I promptly reinstalled. Unless you're having problems with your current Retrospect driver, I don't see any reason to upgrade.
