Product Description:

What is it?
teleport is a simple utility to let you use one single mouse and keyboard to control several of your Macs.

Simply reach the edge of your screen, and your mouse teleports to your other Mac! The pasteboard can even be synchronized between the computers.

How do I use it?
Using the convenient Preferences Pane, you configure which hosts you want to control, arrange them graphically like in the Monitors panel, and you're ready! Simply reach an edge of the screen where a slave host is connected, and you take control of the other Mac. The keyboard is acting like if it was connected on the controlled host, and the pasteboard has optionnally been synchronized. On the master computer, a nice notification indicates that it controls another Mac, and shows you the position of your mouse cursor.

To take back control of your main Mac, simply drag the mouse back from where your cursor came, just like when you have several monitors.

What's new in this version:

  • Encryption: keystrokes, pasteboard and file transfers are now safe on the network, thanks to strong encryption. See below for more information.
  • Files drag & drop: files and folders can now be drag & dropped between the hosts to copy them. See below for more information.
  • Wake On LAN: if you're using teleport on an Ethernet network and that your shared Mac supports it, teleport can try to wake a disconnected host before controlling it.
  • New Trusted Hosts pane: manage your trusted hosts and change the trust setting of your shared Mac.
  • Custom modifiers for switching: choose between cmd, alt, ctrl, shift and caps lock.
  • Custom modifiers for pasteboard sharing: synchronize the pasteboard only when the relevant modifier is down.
  • Background images: see the real background images of the remote hosts in the Layout tab of the teleport Preferences Pane, to identify more quickly the shared hosts.
  • Adjustable switch delay: the delay before the switch can now be graphically adjusted in the Options tab of the teleport Preferences Pane.
  • Prevent sleep of main Mac when controlling.
  • More efficient method to get events of the main Mac.
  • Some polishing on the Layout and Options tab of the Preferences Pane.
  • Propose to ask for trust again when authentication fails on a paired Mac.
  • Better compatibility with Fast User Switching and desktop managers.
  • Many other misc improvements and fixes.

teleport Troubleshooting ReportHow do you switch from an Intel Mac and a PPC? - Version: 1.0.2, 10/22/2009 10:24AM PST

Jeff2112--2008
This software is amazing!!!!!!!!

I'm having one issue. My new MacBook Pro (Intel) sees my G5 (PPC) and the cursor moves from my MacBook Pro to my G5 beautifully. However, it can't go back to my MacBook Pro. I've activated the sharing and the my MacBook sees my G5, but my G5 doesn't see my MacBook Pro to activate it in the Teleport Window.

I installed the newer (INTEL) version on my MacBook Pro and the older (PPC) version to work on my G5. Would this be the reason that my G5 would not recognize the new INTEL version or my MacBook Pro?

Please help as this would be a tremendous asset. I'll mak a donation once this is rectified.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

This is one amazing piece of software. Just installed it on my Mac mini and my MacBook Pro, and it worked instantly. I can now forget about VNC or manually plugging/unplugging my keyboard and mouse, just control two machine from one set of peripherals. Very cool.

This guy is gonna get a donation from me... and if he finds the time to introduce a Windows version (for my BootCamp gaming), he'll get one again! :-)

I search for such a software since a long time and here it is !
- For PPC, you just must go to the developer web site where you can find a version
- Add the pref.panel only for the current user
... and it simply works ! Even French keyboard works whereas it was transformed into Qwerty one with Apple screen shared...
I hope the developer has a way to get donation easely... he will receive mine !
