I've used version 1.01, probably since it appeared on the scene. I give it 5 stars. Version 1.1, at least for me, is one GIANT leap backward now with its changing the file modification date. The "file modification date" should be, and should always be, the date that *** I *** modify/save the CONTENTS of the file.
Nudge's "description" says it all: "CM nudges Finder to update file/folder info display." UPDATE, not change it.
I can recommend 1.01, but, I'm going to stay away from 1.1. I STILL find the occaisional need for it.

I use Nudge just about every day.

I work with application & file icon files a lot. After updating an icon resource, all I have to do is use nudge to make the application or file show its new icon. I use nudge at least a few times per day.

No, so far it looks like the Tiger Finder has indeed cleaned up its act. I haven't had to use Nudge myself yet on Tiger.

Do we still need Nudge for Tiger?
My impression is that the finder has a new update policy:
- it does automatically update the contents of a folder after a few seconds
- it sometimes prevents showing the contents of a folder or drive, if a moving (copying?) operation currently takes place in this folder
What do you think?

Just what I have been looking for! Can't understand why this feature is not included with MacOS X right from the start. This piece of software is a precious help!
Faster than your lousy AppleScript

Being an AppleScript Studio programmer, I'm familiar with AS and used to use an AS quite like that to help deal with this issue. After using this plugin though, I would never go back. This is probably 3 times faster than with the overhead of a script having to launch and quit everytime I want to use it.
I dunno where people get off with 1 star reviews calling a freeware product useless, when the programmer puts forth the effort to create a solution to help the community in need....

can do it better and faster with this applescript:
try
tell application "Finder" to update items of front window
end try
this script will update all items in the front finder window, w/o having to select individual items. and it's fast.

"plaintiger", could you e-mail me about this? Reassigning the default application has some special cases, I might have a tip for you.

i've tried nudging finder displays many times now and it hasn't worked yet. does the fact that i use column view affect anything?
latest failure: i got info on one of several RAW files from my camera that display GraphicConverter icons and changed the default app for that file type to Photoshop and nudged both the folder containing the files in question and the files themselves, but the files' icons remain GC icons, and further, the annoying problem i've always had remains wherein only the document in whose Get Info window i actually changed the default app opens with the new default app the first time i double-click it; all the other files of the same type in the same folder open with the old default app the first time i double-click them after making the change.
*sigh*...

BTW, the download link here still points to version 1.1. It should be <http://www.brockerhoff.net/nudge/Nudge12.dmg>
