Sorry, but I have to bring this up. AVID free DV or Full "Distribute AVID to the Microsoft BigMac and Pizza Artists, this here is an OS X Site with Style".

Thank you, AVID Thanks....
(Did I tell you, that OS X is not Windows? - it's UNIX-BSD.)

Object -C is poetry and should be understood as such.
XCode should not be abused, it's there for writing the
most outstanding Apps for OS X.
_____
period.

Mr Pen Dragon, get off your kext bender, many apps install kexts, LightWava and Maya both install stuff deep in to your system and can causr kernal panics, but i have never disstabalized my system from any of them, its a thing you have to accept if you want to use grown up apps. And if you were the mac fanboy that you seem to be ou would really understand the Kool Aid reference.
As for AVID apps, they argue with LightWave but run great, at least i think they do.

Avid Free DV ReviewIf you look inside the installer... - Version: 1.1.0.1050, 2/22/2004 08:48AM PST

Pen Dragon

Avid is installing a awful lot of system-level stuff. The best apps are just drag and drop with everything inside the application package. At least they have removed kernel extensions so numerous with earlier versions. Apple apps can be the exception to this -- it's Apple's OS. I prefer Final Cut Express, which is worth the price. Also iMovie 4 is hard to beat at the low-cost level. You can even find plug-ins to do compositing with iMovie.

If you have an older version of Avid Free you would do well to find and remove the six or seven kernel extensions they previously installed. This is what Apple says about kernel extensions:

Oh, to blueskymining, the comment about 'kool-aid' drinking is a analogy to the suicides at Jonestown 20+ years back. Your analogy is tasteless and inappropriate because the level of seriousness is so different. One effects the destinies of human souls, the other is, ah, software. Please think before you write.
