Product Description:

Computers are able to organize things for you. For example, you can throw files into a folder and the Macintosh Finder will display them in alphabetical order. But someone lost the recipe when web browsers were developed, and today most web browsers, Safari included, do no automatic sorting of bookmarks. SafariSorter does the sorting so that organized people like you will no longer have to spend time alphabetizing your bookmarks manually. This early release is available only in English.

What's new in this version:

This version fixes "About SafariSorter" which now shows the proper cute little box instead of crashing SafariSorter (I broke this in 2.7). Also I cleaned up some more memory leaks. Finally, 2.9 no longer includes debugging hooks, which reduces the application (and download) size by about half. There are no new features or performance improvements over SafariSorter 2.7. If you have 2.7 installed, don't use "About SafariSorter", and don't mind that 2.7 is wasting 1.5 MB of hard drive space, you do not need to update.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.2 or higher

SafariSorter Usage TipNeed to use PLUTIL under 10.4.x - Version: 3.11, 10/11/2005 05:50PM PST

Many .plist files are now binary encoded, rather than the tradional XML format. SafariSorter doesn't understand the new binary format. You'll need to use the PLUTIL command in the TERMINAL app for change the format of the bookmarks.plist file from binary to XML, and then back again after SafariSorter has done its work.

In TERMINAL, type 'man plutil' for more info.

'plutil -convert xml1 bookmarks.plist', then use SafariSorter, then 'plutil -convert binary1 bookmarks.plist'. Cheers, Al

Love SafariSorter, but latest version won't work with Tiger. Says it can't read my bookmarks, which are all Safari bookmarks. What happened to this great little app?
