It plays full screen movie. You can hide the controller if you want. Plus you can watch movie files dvd backup from your HD. In my opinion this is the only player you will need to watch movies and its free.

Sure, it plays the DVD fine. But I already have the Apple DVD player to do that. What I want is to access the "exclusive online content" that goes with my Star Wars Trliogy DVD set. Does it work? Nope. Error page.
And I installed the player from the DVD, so don't tell me it isn't supposed to work with this DVD.
I sent a tech support email to interactual, we'll see if they can fix this for me. meanwhile, they get a crappy rating because it's useless out of the box.

This version Kernel Panics my 800Mhz 14" iBook every time I try to access any of the ROM features on the disc. granted I've only tried three, but after going through all those restarts, who would want to go through them all.

Wow!! The 1.4 player is even better than 1.3. They have made changes so that the window doesn't resize every time there is an aspect ratio change in the window.
This player is built from the same technology used to make Apple's DVD Player, so for playing standard DVD movies, there is little difference between InterActual Player and Apple DVD Player.
But for the new range of DVDs enhanced with DVD-ROM features this player really enhances the movie watching experience.
There are a lot of existing titles with ROM content, that will probably never work on the Mac, unless Apple somehow ported ActiveX to the MacOS.
This is a bummer, but enterprising users will find that a lot of content on DVDs such as Shrek, Spirit, Sinbad, Pirates of the Carribean etc. is just HTML, Flash and Shockwave and can be run in your standard web browser. You just need to look in the "common" folder on the DVD, which is where the DVD-ROM content is stored.
This product is only a few months old, and already we've seen half a dozen DVD releases that support it. I think if all us Mac users throw our support behind DVDs featuring Mac content, then the movie studios will start releasing more and more titles.

Crashes on launch - Version: 1.5.1, 4/22/2004 04:13AM PST

I have an external Firewire DVD(-RW,+RW) drive attached and was going to complain that InterActual Player doesn't work. However, since Apple's DVD Player won't work with it either, okay, fine, understandable that it doesn't work (VLC Player does, but I assume it doesn't use Apple's DVD frameworks).
However, I don't think that InterActual Player handles the "doesn't work with..." situation very well. it displays a DVD framework initialization error (like I said, fair enough), but then completely crashes out. I would suggest a polite "sorry, you don't have a supported DVD drive" (or similar), rather than an application crash; and I mean a full crash, with crash log generated, offer to report the crash to Apple and everything.

Mac Features on Haunted Mansion same as PC

InterActual have released a version 1.3 Player on the Haunted Mansion DVD, and the features for Mac on that DVD are practically the same as the PC.
DVD-ROM content is now rendered in the DVD video window next to the video, and you can instantly jump to chapters and special features in the video, or launch applications from the DVD, such as the cool Ghostly Effects Studio, where you can morph yourself into a character from the film.
The player now also supports Matrix Revolutions and Around the World in 80 days.
