Product Description:

Factbook is a neat Cocoa GUI for the CIA World Factbook. Review basic information about a country; see its flag, map, and read a summary of recent events.

Source code for the AppleScript Studio project is available at the developer's web site.

What's new in this version:

  • You can now save flag and map images
  • Added link to country's web page in the Factbook
  • Map window dimensions are equal to that of the map image
  • Map and flag descriptions appear in respective tool tips
  • Some code optimization

It wasn't immediately apparent to me, but, in addition to the quick summary, when you click the ribbon thingee next to the pull-down menu, you're taken to the full CIA page with all sorts of info. Inessential app but convenient for folks like me.

I like this app ok I guess, but the paltry amount of info included on any country you care to choose is completely pathetic.

Surely this can't be the sum total of what the CIA knows about the world?

No wonder US foreign policy f***s up so often...
