EditiX ReviewSorry but no thanks! - Version: 3.0, 2/9/2005 01:52PM PST

I have been using this app for quite a while now, but this upgrade policy is out of hand. I just paid to upgrade to 2.0 in September and now they want another $39 to get 3. I don't think so.

It's a pretty good product, but frankly there are many others that are just as good and don't cost nearly as much.

EditiX stands clearly nearby my BBEdit app. I use primarily BBE and this new product is very clear and very well designed. I work a lot using XHTML/XML and SVG formats, and it is what I was expecting from an app. If you work extensively with web standards, this is your app.

This is really a great app for creating and developing XML-based documents. As a longtime BBEdit power user I must confess that I always wished that lots the features from Editix will appear in it. But I'm pretty satisfied using Editix on Mac OS X (a PB G4 800) which runs fast, realiable and stable.

This is my second major Java application that I'm using on a daily basis (my first is DbVisualizer).

I really hate to see a good product get a bum wrap just because of some irresponsible reviewers.

This app runs very well in OS X 10.3.2. I use it almost daily and have absoluely no problems with performance or stability.

As for it being Java, SO WHAT? In case you haven't noticed virtually every XML editor on the market is written in Java. That makes perfect sense because XML is inherently cross-platform and is better supported by Java than any other language.

I have owned several XML editors, all costing $80-250 more than EditiX. EditiX can holds its own against any of them.

Personally found this utterly unusable. Slow. Cumbersome. Feels like it was designed for windows. Really. In case it hadn't been mentioned, it's a java app, so it probably was. The "open" dialog box is a hoot.

Unlike michalski I have no problems to run it under 10.3.2.
There are not many (professional) XML-Editor apps that run on Mac OS X. And this one has all the features that I am used to from other platforms. It is quick and has an excellent GUI.

Good presentation but... if you try to open a XML file the application quit. It's impossible to use it.

Very nice selection of features in a straightforward inferface with support all of the current XML standards. What more could you want.

Also received great support from the developer!
