Been playing iPoker for years, it's very addicting. Mind boggling how many versions of poker there are. Who woulda thunk? Great game!

iPoker Developer NoteiPoker does not misevaluate poker hands. - Version: 4.1.1, 12/21/2007 04:15PM PST

Dear iPoker Customers,

I'm going to politely reiterate that no version of iPoker miscalls or misevaluates winning hands such as Three-of-a-Kind, as reported on this site. I'll also apologize for using the word "ridiculous" in a previous response. I admit that was unprofessional of me.

Short of a corrupt game file, the only way you can force iPoker to do this is via the Game Rules dialog, Showdown pane, Legal Hands list. If you were to uncheck the box next to 3-of-a-Kind in that list, for example, then Two Pair would indeed beat Three-of-a-Kind.

Why does this advanced feature exist? Because iPoker ships with 101 poker game files and some of those games' rules employ non-standard poker hands, like "Little Bobcats" and Straights- or Flushes-only.

iPoker 4.1 did introduce a change to the hand rankings for 3-Card Poker that necessitated an update to the game file format. So it's also possible that if you didn't follow the instructions on my http://scenario.com/iPoker/downloads pages, you could wind up with an incompatible set of game files. The 4.1.1 Updater does not include these games files. So if you suspect this might be the problem, simply download the current version of the full iPoker Installer as explained on my site.

Incidentally, that's the problem with sites like VersionTracker and MacUpdate. They prefer to use direct links to the installers without providing enough context for which installation method you should choose.

If, after all of this, you still suspect a problem in iPoker 4, please contact me via scenario@mac.com and I'll be happy to investigate. You can include a screen shot of the hand in question by pausing the action during the showdown, either by clicking the deck or by typing Command-P for Pause. Then use the Mac's standard screen-shot facility: Command-Shift-3 or 4. You can also include a copy of the current game file being played, along with iPoker's Preferences file.

Thanks,
Todd Ouzts

iPoker Troubleshooting ReportAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! - Version: 4.1, 7/17/2007 04:58PM PST

Really annoying bug (new since 3.5.1): If there are only 2 players left (i.e. 1 computer player and you), and you go "all in" and win, iPoker thinks it's a side pot (!?!) and takes all the winnings anyway. I've seen this 3 times today and it's really, really pissing me off...

I note that the author responded to a similar complaint earlier and simply disregarded this as "ridiculous". Apart from the fact that it's poor form to respond to user's feedback that way, he's actually wrong. And due to the way the game plays, it's simply not possible to take a screenshot as the author suggests...

Once this is fixed, I'd warmly recommend this version again...

iPoker Reviewv4 is Crap - Version: 4.0.2, 12/8/2006 01:07PM PST

Installed v 4, 4.0.1, & 4.0.2. All 3 give false winning hands! Since when does 2 pair beat 3 of a kind? I find absolutely no improvement from v3 to v4--just the opposite.

Unfortunately I had deleted v 3.5.1 assuming the dev had improved the game--WRONG! Now, I've got to start all over again from scratch with v 3.5.1

This game is soooo friggin' cool!

My wife and I have been playing version 3.5 and must say that we've never enjoyed a more addictive, well-designed and FUN poker sim. I LOVE all the variations and have introduced many of the dealer's choice game rules to our regular home game. And major kudos to Scenario Software for keeping this game updated for the new Macs. I can't wait for version 4. I love that rockin' Scenario Poker dashboard widget, too.

And to the previous reviewer who slammed this game for no good reason: GET A LIFE, MAN! Do you have any idea what it takes for an independent developer to write and support a great product like this? And then to have to put up with idiots who tear it down? It sounds like you probably work for a competitor of IPoker's. So give the guy a break. I'm sure he uses it to support his family, just like your job.

iPoker ReviewFrustratingly poor instructions - Version: 3.4.6, 2/18/2006 12:58PM PST

I gave this one a try and I'll be going elsewhere. What to say about the program which doesn't even tell you how to start a new game? Not even in "help" system. Add this to the price and...guess what...bye bye. Oh, yes, one more thing. I've never seen a single poker game, free of shareware, that has SO poorly desgined betting system...at least in Texas Hold'em...

iPoker Reviewlow hands often wrongly calculated - Version: 3.4.2, 9/14/2005 07:14PM PST

copeland4039
This is a fun game but it is frustrating in that for high-low games, the low hand is frequently wrongly calculated. It is particularly bad if wild cards are involved. I have emailed the folks at scenario.com but they just said that their program works fine. Well it does most of the time but try of few games of seven-card stud high-low, low hole-card wild and you will see that low hands are not done right. For example, I had this had

down cards: 6 6, up cards: 4 K 2 7 down card: 9

so, the sixes are wild, making the best low hand to be made a seven high (7432A). HOWEVER, the program said I had a nine high (9742A). I lost to an eight high even though I had a better hand.

Second example seven card stud high-low (no wild cards)

9-6-5-4-3-2-A

So, I had a 6-high straight for high and a 6-4-3-2-A for low (the very best low hand possible). HOWEVER, the program said I had a 5-high straight for low. A straight is not a very good low hand so I lost again.

VERY FRUSTATING
