I emailed various questions to Shirt Pocket about this product (NAS compatibility etc.) and they were promptly answered in a round of back and forth emails, even though it was after 10:30PM. Thanks Dave! I've now purchased the product and am 100% pleased with it.
The best of the best!

SuperDuper saved my gluteus maximus! Corrupted some files, probably boot sectors, on my iMac. Thus, it would not boot. Used my recent backup from an external 800 Firewire drive and copied the entire contents within a very short time. Hassle free, outstanding project for chump chance. Buy it!

This morning my OS hard drive died. It seemed to be running fine until a restart. After a couple troubleshooting techniques failed, I decided to try booting with my OS back up [made with SuperDuper]. The start up went fine and I was then able to use two different disc utilities to confirm the worst case: drive failure [well, it’s better than logic board failure…].
I purchased and installed a replacement drive; booted from my OS clone; formatted the new drive; launched SuperDuper and copied the data onto it. I rebooted on completion and was up and running. [NOTE: Selecting "Restart from..." under 'On successful completion' in the General Options pane allows you to walk away and return to the newly copied OS up and running]. The entire process would theoretically have taken less than an hour if I had a spare [internal] drive handy. How's that for minimizing downtime?
Look, THINGS HAPPEN & HARDWARE FAILS; often without warning. MY ADVICE: GET SUPERDUPER, A PORTABLE HARD DRIVE [I prefer OWC's Mercury On-The-Go 2.5" drives], AND GIVE YOURSELF A SAFETY NET FOR A RAINY DAY. If you rely on your Mac for important endeavors, it makes no sense not to have a [current] bootable OS clone. All app updates are free and the support is superb as well. SuperDuper is well worth the $27.95 price tag, especially when you consider the value of your time.

Update from developer, not from inside the app - Version: 2.6.2, 10/17/2009 10:23AM PST

When I manually updated SuperDuper 2.5 using the pull-down menu, I got version 2.6.
But, the most recent version on the developer's web site is 2.6.2.
Nevertheless, this is an excellent app for making bootable backups.

This is really the best cloning app for Mac OS X. I don't want to reiterate on this; it has been proved by many-many users. It is a pity that 2.6.2 designed with Snow Leopard in mind does not have any mention of it on this site. Actually, it works great with SL.
Best ever

I've used back-up apps on my Macs since 1990, including the once great and appreciated Retrospect, and Super Duper is by far the simplest and most reliable solution. One of the few 5 star apps out there.
Solid five-star application

I agree with the others, Super Duper is one of the very few applications deserving of five stars. Not a single problem in several years use. We use it daily to make bootable back ups of our main drives.
Best Cloner I Have Used

With respect to CCC, Synchronize!, and the myriad other bootable backup applications (I've bought and tried many of them), SuperDuper is the best. The Smart Backup feature is fantastic and saves significant time once a first full backup is done, the interface is intuitive, and the configurable features are just right for both advanced and basic use. My happiest discovery is that the cloned backups work flawlessly, even with finicky applications. Definitely a keeper!
Well worth the price of admission...

SuperDuper continues to go seamlessly about the business of creating bootable duplicate backups. For those who don't have the money or inclination to pay for it, it offers a slower, but still fully functional clone. If you pay for it, updates are forever and the smart update is quicker, more elegant solution. Have used this (in various versions) on G4 and intel macs from Panther to Snow Leopard. The last time I lost a drive, I booted off my clone and up in a minute. When the new drive arrived, I cloned back and was good to go. SuperDuper is indispensable!
It is so easy to use that I do actually back up every couple of days or so, something I have never got round to with any of the other backup software. The thing I like most though is the ability to produce a bootable backup. I know that if anything goes wrong with my main backup I can just plug in the external 2.5" drive that I use to back up and hey presto! I am back working again.
It is also very useful if you want to upgrade your HDD. You just stick the new drive in a USB/firewire enclosure, use SuperDuper! to backup then swap the disk in the enclosure for the internal drive and you're away.
Support is also first rate. I have a query a couple of days ago and exchanged a few emails with Dave Nanian. He was very helpful and responded to my emails super fast.
I have no connection with Dave or Shirt Pocket but I like this product so much that I am doing my bit to promote one of my favourite pieces of software.
