I bought a 3600 USB scanner a few years ago, and what I found out is this. It seems they support all scanners but the 3600 for software upgrades and OS X compatibility.
I can't speak for any of their other scanners, but to sell a product and not support it is just wrong. Never again will I buy Microtek!
So, no, I don't recommend this software or their hardware!
