NcFTP Client Reviewworks fine - Version: 3.2.3, 9/22/2009 03:48PM PST

I had trouble building from source (never did figure out the problem) and was delighted to find a precompiled binary. Installed/worked fine on Snow Leopard.

If you haven't used ncftp, you're in for something of a treat. Handles autocompletion, recursion, etc with virtually no effort on the user's part. I use it a lot for local (lan) transfers where user-to-user ftp is okay, but it's perhaps even more useful when doing anonymous ftp to a download site.

I have been faithfully using this for more than 4 years. I've used NcFTP on Solaris, Redhat, and OS X. Fantastic.

This is the best ftp client i know, it requires a bit of terminal skills, but it is by far the most stable and reliable out there.

NcFTP Client CommentaryYou'd have to be a wizard to spot that this application is TERMINAL (only)! - Version: 3.2.0, 1/12/2007 11:01AM PST

Pretty silly way to post this application. The very first comment should be (in all caps): "RUN FROM TERMINAL ONLY - NOT A STANDARD MAC OS X APPLICATION."

I'll bet 90% or more of those who download and attempt to install this miss the terminal only message and waste a lot of time screwing around trying to find the application (thinking it to be a standard Mac GUI application) only to give up in frustration. Argh!

Without this warning, this app probably would find a better home with Linux users.

As is says in the very first screen of the installer, NcFTP is a console application. It runs only from within Terminal.app and is intended for advanced users who are comfortable with Terminal.

Once installed, you type "ncftp" from within Terminal to run the program.

Fast and easy. The built in help interface is great or… typing man ncftp gives much more. I particularly like the bookmarks feature. If you do not like the command line, look elsewhere.
