xCHM CommentaryDeveloper provided Mac OS binaries of xCHM - Version: 1.13, 5/2/2008 03:52AM PST

thewhiterabbit
I no longer have access to the Mac machine I've been using to make builds of xCHM on. If they were important to you, I need to raise about 800 EUROs (for the cheapest MacMini machine available here, which I believe is the cheapest Mac machine available). If you'd like to help, please use the "Support this project" button at the bottom of any of the pages on the http://xchm.sourceforge.net website. All you need is a SourceForge.net account (which you can get for free), and a PayPal account. The minimum donation allowed by SourceForge is $5.

Of course, the source code for xCHM will continue to be free regardless, and anyone who prefers will still be able to make his/her own builds of the application.

xCHM ReviewNo support for all styled text - Version: 1.13, 4/15/2007 05:16AM PST

I have some .chm files where xchm doesn't render italic, red coloured, or other styled text, while Chamonix does it just fine. These are technical books where these text enhancements are essential for comprehension, so xchm promptly went to the trash.
Also, no support for page up/page down keys is very annoying.

xCHM Troubleshooting ReportJust the source - Version: 1.11, 3/21/2007 03:06AM PST

xChm v1.11 is actually available only as source code, the precomplied binary available for Mac OS X is still v1.10.
I tried to compile the v1.11 source but it doesn't pass the configure script.

xCHM ReviewSlow and awfull UI - Version: 1.9b, 8/13/2006 10:21PM PST

Just quickly tried this and I'm really not convinced, it's quite slow (on an iBook G4 800) and the UI is just awfull.

Instead I really recommend Chamonix that work well and it's speedy

xCHM CommentaryNewest Download Version - Version: 1.5, 6/16/2006 10:56AM PST

The newest download application version still is labeled "v. 1.3" although the .dmg file shows "1.5". Also the modification date is still old. Anyone know how to determine if I really have the newest version?

xCHM CommentaryUpdate on the universal binary - Version: 1.5, 6/13/2006 01:32AM PST

thewhiterabbit
Since the old universal binary seems to crash, there's a newer one <a href="http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/xchm/xchm-1.9a-universal.dmg?download">here</a>.
This is without unicode support, which I suspect was the cause of the crashes. Test it on i386 and let me know.

xCHM CommentaryUniversal binary version of xCHM v1.9 - Version: 1.5, 6/12/2006 11:29AM PST

thewhiterabbit
I've built an universal binary of xCHM, it available for download here. I have no idea if it works on i386 but I've tested it on the PPC machine on which I've built it and it seemed OK. Let me know if it works for you. Cheers.
