This is an extremely useful suite of tools. It takes some getting to know, but plugs major gaps in AI’s ability to draw precise paths. AI lacks a decent point editor in particular, and XP goes some way to repairing this with the Numeric Edit tool which, however, stops just frustratingly short of being as useful as it could be. Please could the developers consider the following improvements. (I have tried emailing them, but received no response.)
• The Numeric Edit tool should not decouple smooth points if only handle length (and not direction) is changed.
• Option-clicking should maintain a smooth point even if direction is changed, i.e. opposing direction handle would be edited to conform to edited direction.
• Add shift-click = convert to smooth point, same as Segment Edit tool &c.
• Add option click on spin wheels to increment by 1/10 units.
• And (very minor) widen direction text input field so that numerals are not sometimes clipped on RH side.
----I originally wrote this review on the same day that I coincidentally received a reply to an email that I had written to Stephen Vincent about his Point Tweaker. The upcoming version of PT looks like being an even more useful point editor than the Numeric Edit tool in XP at a fraction of the cost, though XP may still be worth having for the other features. It would be nice to have a little developer feedback though.
