Product Description:

GarageBand turns your Mac into an anytime, anywhere recording studio packed with hundreds of instruments and a recording engineer or two for good measure. It's the easiest way to create, perform and record your own music whether you're an accomplished player or just wish you were a rock star. And GarageBand is the newest member of the iLife family, so you can add your original music to your slideshows, your DVD menus, burn it to CDs or score your iMovie projects.

What's new in this version:

Addresses isolated performance and stability issues, allows per-track Echo settings similar to other effects, supports loop libraries in other disk locations, supports importing unprotected AAC audio files in addition to AIF and MP3 files, and addresses issues with ReWire support, moving GarageBand songs between different computers, Help support, fixing the timing of individual notes (as well as entire regions), and dragging entire tracks in the timeline.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

Does this mean Apple is not supporting 10.4 users anymore ? I think they should, at least till 10.6 comes out !!! Why does Garage band need iLife '09 ? My Logic Pro works great with or without any version of iLife ! I guess they want us to spend more money updating everything. Bummer !

Apple GarageBand Usage TipDon't rename it, don't move it. - Version: 4.1, 10/5/2007 10:58PM PST

The 4.1 updater still demands that Garageband be loose in the Applications folder, i.e. not moved to somewhere more convenient to you and also not renamed. This is an issue that should not need to be raised with Apple, considering their stirling reputation for functionality and user-friendliness.
