And for $60 what you get is...? - Version: 1.5, 5/30/2004 01:38PM PST

I think I'll pass on this one. Apple's own Disk Utility (Panther version) lets you do an 8-pass random wipe on any hard disk you want to scrub up before putting it up for adoption or resale. After that, the truly paranoid can create a volume-sized file and then do a 35 pass Gutmann wipe using srm's default mode (comes with Panther.) And yes, I too have heard that OS X does a pretty fair job of recovering space from deleted files, and even does on-the-fly file defragmentation, which also recovers small lacunae.
"What are the system requirements to use AutoScrubber?
Apple Macintosh running Mac OS 10.2 or Mac OS 10.3.
(Note: AutoScrubber on Tiger is not supported)"
This was excellent software when it worked. I just payed $60 for it about three months ago and now I learn Jiiva most likely won't update it for Tiger. For some reason I have a sick feeling in my stomach… sort of like I bought land in a swamp. 3 months usage ≠$60.
