Product Description:

MPP provides a complete, enterprise grade solution for email security, virus and spam filtering, attachment stripping, and archival. MPP is upgradeable with modular. best-of-breed open source and commercial plug-ins such as MailShell, Sophos, ClamAV and SpamAssassin. MPP offers per-user, per-group, per-domain or per-direction configuration of all options with our sophisticated policy-engine. End user policy preferences may be stored in our config file or standard LDAP directories. MPP is managed and monitored with an intuitive Webmin GUI module.

MPP goes far beyond the rudimentary solution for virus and spam filtering that Apple has included in Tiger with features such as end-user spam quarantine review, enterprise class security technology, archival, denial of service prevention, integrated content filtering, multiple mail server support, file size limitations, a policy-engine and more.

What's new in this version:

  • Updated Mailshell engine for even better spam filtering for OS X users.
  • Spam Traps - Block email from hosts that send to known bad addresses. Use regular expressions to define address categories.
  • Greylisting - Stop 95% of spam without any content filtering
  • Attachment stripping - remove attachments from email, place them on an ftp or web server and replace with a link. Great for graphics shops!
  • Redesigned GUI
  • Postfix Policy Server - MPP can now do intelligent pre and post queue filtering with the first integrated policy server/content filter available for Postfix.
  • Mac Intel Support
  • Thresholds to find senders or receivers abusing the email system

MPP Enterprise Edition ReviewCan't recommend this more - Version: 3.2, 3/28/2007 07:58AM PST

If you're running a mail server for your company on OS X do yourself a big favor and check this out! I run CommuniGate with MPP and could not be happier. I use MailShell for anti-spam and Sophos for AV. These two really cut down on the junk.

If you don't want to pay for Sophos and MailShell then you can plugin open source for filtering. I used ClamAV and SpamAssassin for a long time before I needed more options. (ClamAV can not clean a virus so mail with legitimate attachments gets rejected. With Sophos I can clean the virus from the message -- usually Word macro viruses -- and still deliver the mail.)

The support is also top notch. I swear these guys never sleep.

If you need an anti-virus gateway to pass messages to Sophos, ClamAV or even other scanners, or to run past Spam Assassin, MPP is fantastic. I'm using it with Communigate Pro/Sophos/ClamAV, although it works witih Postfix and other mail servers. Very flexible, very stable. No speed hit, either. Highly recommended.
