JunkMatcher Troubleshooting ReportUse under Leopard - Version: 1.6.1, 12/28/2007 05:54AM PST

kemeng
Can anybody tell me how to use this great application under Leopard?

Thx

It is the better spam filter on OS X. Much better than Spamsieve or other program.

JunkMatcher Commentarywhy use anything other than SpamSieve? - Version: 1.6.1, 1/17/2007 01:11AM PST

SpamSieve is an amazing spam filter that works (perfectly) with numerous email clients including Mail.app. why do people bother writing other spam filtering utilities when there's already one available that couldn't be improved upon?

JunkMatcher ReviewTaking over the CPU - Version: 1.6.1, 12/24/2006 06:36PM PST

djstein_dotmac
I've been using JM for a while now, and thought tha it worked fine, although it's been filtering mail more slowly recently. Today when I tried to get my mail, it got hung up, and I noticed the CPU was taken over by Python. Not knowing what Python was, I checked here, and also on their website, and read up on Python, whitelists, etc. I uninstalled it and was able to retrieve mail once more. I'd be at loss without this site. I did reinstall it and it seems fine now. But to have this happen is not great.

JunkMatcher ReviewNot useful anymore - Version: 1.6.1, 11/21/2006 05:00AM PST

Works great until your whitelist gets to more than ten to fiteen names in it, then slows your computer to a crawl by starting up a PYTHON routine that takes over your CPU. No longer supported and hasn't been updated to fix this bug in over a year. The solution is to edit your whitelist using textedit, but then you lose your whitelist! This used to begreat but I would not recommend it now, sadly.

JunkMatcher ReviewGreat Idea, but... - Version: 1.6.1, 8/28/2006 03:53PM PST

This app changed my existing filters. It added a copy, so I was receiving 2-3 copies of spam instead the already intrusive 1. After deleting this, I had to go and clean out all of my original junk filters to make certain they didn't include "copy" as well as my preferred move to junk.

Lastly, the python bug did bug, even after pruning my whitelist. This was my second installation try and I won't install it again.

JunkMatcher CommentaryReally Great Application - Version: 1.6.1, 8/12/2006 08:59AM PST

mail117
This has made a huge difference to my mailbox. A lot of the good stuff goes to the Junk BUT you just click on the button to say that it is not junk and it gets added to the whitelist. Really good. Many thanks to the author

JunkMatcher ReviewJunkMatcher works wonderfully - Version: 1.6.1, 7/16/2006 04:28PM PST

I have been using JunkMatcher for more than a year. It continues to work very cleanly indeed. Commentary that the interface is somewhat complex is accurate, but I don't think there is really any need to play with it unless you like to play. That is, it will do its job even if you do nothing other than install it and use the mall.app junk/not-junk buttons and otherwise leave JunkMatcher alone.

I'm looking forward to Mr. Han, the developer, having time to play with this package again. The bug in the whitelist filesize needs attention (though a work-around is provided on the website, and it does indeed work) and it would be nice were this package able to run in intel-based macs.

I would recommend this package without hesitation to anyone who can take a little bit of time to read the documentation.
