Yesterday I tried to patch NeoOffice, which is by the way a very good program and I use it a lot, and the patch failed to update. It was patch 6.
Then I installed version 3.0 from scratch, because patch 6 messed up the program, and I was getting a message that patch 7 was out. So there was something wrong with patch 6 like I've thought and experianced...
Anyway, I installed patch 7 with succes and now NeoOffice (patched to 7) crashes almost all the time on startup... Sometimes the program starts normal after 6 or 7 crashes and works normal?
I believe this patch 7 is a quick fix for patch 6 and that a patch 8 will follow very soon because something is wrong with the last two patches (6 and 7).
So for the moment I installed a clean 3.0 again (works like a charme on 10.5.8) and I'm waiting for patch 8.
Again, NeoOffice is one the programs I'm often use and Iove it!!! So 5 stars from me!!!
It's always possible that something is going wrong during an update, we are only humans and we all make mistakes ;-). So no harm done, I'm still a big fan of the NeoOffice Project and all the great developers!!! Thanks a lot for the effort, the great program, etc. !!!
Greets.

Intel NeoOffice 3.0 thumbs up vs. OOo 3.1

I've always been wary of NeoOffice on a purely emotional level - lots of bad vibes re: their splinter from OOo but push has come to shove now and it's bad news for OOo. 3.0-3.1 was their big splash Mac native version, but it doesn't behave well for me... when dealing with even the smallest of graphics in documents (tracers when moving an image, a delay in image rendering from the time you release the mouse button until the image appears in its new position, makes precision difficult). It opens slower than NeoOffice. I get too many beach balls (even if OOo is the only app open and the first one loaded right after start up, so not a memory or CPU issue on my computer).
NeoOffice doesn't have any of those issues.
Yeah document format exchangeability is still buggy, in both Neo and OOo, but that's actually now Microsoft's fault - they (seemingly) purposely withheld the appropriate specifications to allow interoperability seamlessly after agreeing to a standard to use, using the excuse that the standard everyone agreed to was not well defined. But M$ only brought that up AFTER the fact when it was too late to fix, when they supposedly knew about it during development.
