Nuntius CommentaryFeatures speak louder then typos - Version: 1.0, 12/27/2003 06:45AM PST

Tseran
Lets start off at the beginning. There are a lot of MUD clients out there for X now. This is a good thing. None of them are as feature rich as Rapscallion was with the GUI, or as powerful as TinyFugue is. This is yet another offering. It may have promise, but there are problems right off the bat.
  • The main info page is riddled with typos. For a company just starting off, this is bad. Having someone take a second look at your page is always a good idea.
  • This is NOT the first Cocoa MUD client as the page claims, Cantrip and Hydra are Cocoa and have been out for over a year now
  • A lot of the other MUD clients already have the more advanced features like MSP/MCCP support
  • There is no mention of what makes this client better then the rest, just what makes it the same
  • The whole name issue with another software package

On the whole a good idea, but very badly presented. I hope that won't discourage the author from putting more work into it and trying to get it better.

Nuntius is a newsreader. I think you're going to have to change your name.

Hint: In the future, check the net for your proposed name before releasing.

Also, this MUD client seems like a very weak client. I've seen others for OS X which are much better (not counting TinyFugue, which beats all other MUD clients by far). This client has no help (which it really should have - you have the default line ending to carriage return and yet a lot of MUDs require linefeed, so the default settings mean your input doesn't work and there's nothing telling you why, also there's no info on the telnet option thingy, and I have no idea what it's supposed to do, or why, since it's a MUD client, not a telnet client). The information on the bottom of the window doesn't make much sense (and once again, there's no help that explains it) and there's really not much redeeming about this client.

I think I'll stick with TinyFugue
