It could render HTML email. Other than that I have had great experiences with this trial. Keep up the good work!

I'm told that the issue below about not archiving sent e-mail is a bug that will be fixed in 1.6.

This seemed to be the exact thing I've been looking for to archive my email into a Filemaker database, except for one thing:
IT ONLY ARCHIVES EMAIL YOU'VE *RECEIVED*. It doesn't work at all on my Eudora outbox, or on any other sent message in any other folder. I don't know about the rest of the world, but I need to keep *both* sides of an email conversation. I just assumed it would archive everything in a particular Eudora mailbox, and I almost deleted several mailboxes before noticing my outbound email wasn't included in the archive.
Other than that, Mail Archiver X is really well done. If it didn't have that one fatal flaw, I'd say it's best-in-class.

Downloaded both the beta and the last full version. Neither work for me. The beta package lacks the Filemaker database referred to in the documentation. The full version has the FM database, but I'll be damned if I know how it interfaces with this program. Exporting into it doesn't work. Opening it gives you a nice browser to use, but it's empty of course.

When do you need to archive emails? When you switch clients or when you reach saturation and have to clean house or make backups. Many email clients have so-called archive utilities built in but I have yet to find any that are easy to use repeatedly (i.e add to an existing archive), where you can find old emails afterwards, clean out the clutter, and work with different mail clients. I have tried converting from one email client to another using different software and it turned into a disaster. Thunderbird does not have the ability to archive/backup at all.
Mail Archiver, now at 1.3b2, fills this huge deficiency very nicely. I thought I had about 2000 emails but after using the Archiver, it turns out to be over 10.000! It takes some time to grab all those emails and get them into the database but then it's super fast. I use 10.4.3 on a dual 2 Ghz G5 and this thing hums!
Yes, it's pricey, and more features are still planned but the concept, functionality, and implementation so far are sound and very promising.
Keep up the good work!

from the developer's website, emphasis mine:
When the application is not registered you will occasionally see a nag dialog and *some of the archived data is scrambled*. As a result of this, *it is not possible to use the archives created during the trial period*.
tryer beware.

"Mail Archiver sets out to help you with the storage of emails."
I've been using Apple Mail for about 6 years. It has done a fine job of storing my email. Spotlight does a fine job of finding messages when I need to. Not sure what Mail Archiver means by "cleaning your email" but I'm sure I don't need it. I've got less than 1GB of sent/saved/inbox/everything else email, so it's not like I need to reclaim that space considering I have 1.75TB of local storage.
What does this do that Mail doesn't already do? Or, is it really necessary?
20MB download seems a bit big too... This wouldn't be a RealBasic app would it?
