Product Description:

For many people email has effectively replaced snail mail. More and more emails land daily in your inbox. However, the basic handling and storage of emails has stayed the same since the day email was invented. Mail Archiver sets out to help you with the storage of emails.

What to do with Mail Archiver X?

  • Keep your mails at one place.
  • Exchange your mail archive with others or use archives as a backup.
  • Read your mail, after you have changed your mail application.
  • Filter out garbage.

Benefits of Mail Archiver X

  • Mail Archiver X uses the fastest available database Valentina from Paradigma Software.
  • Mail Archiver X is the only mail archival application, which also offers cleaning of mails.
  • Mail Archiver X utilizes a hypbrid approach with AppleScript. AS is only used where required, which makes Mail Archiver X much faster than comparable applications.

Therefore Mail Archiver X is the perfect companion to your mail application.

What's new in this version:

Version 2.1.2 fixes a Database issue and some other bugs.

  • IMPORTANT: In some rare conditions data corruption could occur, which resulted in Segment errors and empty mail bodies. This will not occur anymore, but the archival is now slower.
  • Opening a database should no longer crash occasionally.
  • It's now possible to open and clone a database in one step. The opening is done without the usual checks and changes.
  • The application no longer crashes when using the backspace key in the List view.
  • Export to Filemaker now also works when using Advanced.

Mail Archiver X CommentaryAm I missing something? Why would you need this? - Version: 2.1b2, 11/25/2007 05:51PM PST

The description says:

"Mail Archiver sets out to help you with the storage of emails."

I've been using Apple Mail for about 6 years. It has done a fine job of storing my email. Spotlight does a fine job of finding messages when I need to. Not sure what Mail Archiver means by "cleaning your email" but I'm sure I don't need it. I've got less than 1GB of sent/saved/inbox/everything else email, so it's not like I need to reclaim that space considering I have 1.75TB of local storage.

What does this do that Mail doesn't already do? Or, is it really necessary?

20MB download seems a bit big too... This wouldn't be a RealBasic app would it?

It could render HTML email. Other than that I have had great experiences with this trial. Keep up the good work!

I'm told that the issue below about not archiving sent e-mail is a bug that will be fixed in 1.6.
