after spending 90 minutes trying to solve MS Word crashing before even starting, my friend Eric at velocity indicated that I check here for a solution. this is it -- problem solved and my work life is once again on track.

I have used this in its now several incarnations, and have not had an "unexpected quit" in InDesign or MS Word since.

And just to check, I just ran Illustrator (10.0.3) through its paces, and everything seems just fine.

Any app that saves time (restarting apps, or even the Mac) and angst is all right by me!

DeepSix Commentary"System Folder" is the OS 9.x folder - Version: 1.2, 12/19/2003 01:56PM PST

A path of /System Folder/Application Support/Adobe/TypeSpt/AdobeFnt.db is pointing to the Classic System folder, right? On an OS X volume, AdobeFnt.db seems to be at /Library/Application Support/Adobe/TypeSpt/AdobeFnt.db.

Is there any reason the file couldn't be at BOTH locations? Does DeepSix look for it in both locations? Does DeepSix search all volumes for these files? (For example, I installed OS 9 on a separate partition.)

DeepSix Troubleshooting Reportodd... - Version: 1.2, 12/19/2003 11:37AM PST

I had run this before it got patched. Checked my back up and there are no AdobeFnt.DB files on them! I DO have Illustrator 10 and it continues to function.

So I ran this new version and it deleted several AdobeFnt* files. BUT, it also left a bunch of them... why/how does it do some but not others?

We've used this too on all our design-centric machines without ill effects (even the older versions before 1.2) and have gained stability with our Adobe apps.

FYI all...this app, PRIOR to being patched has been used in our studio of 25 Macs as a regular troubleshooting utility with absolutely NO ill effects and Illustrator was/is used constantly. This app did nothing but fix problems every time.

DeepSix Troubleshooting ReportDoesn't launch - Version: 1.2, 12/19/2003 10:34AM PST

Mike Dustan
On my Panther 10.3.2 system, DeepSix instantly and silently quits on launch. Sigh. As I'm a bit of a font junkie, I thought it might help clean up some parts of my system.
