Product Description:

GCam can record video clips from an Apple iSight camera or any other DV camera. It can then format files with selectable video and audio compression, edit the clips, and email them to friends.

Gcam accepts video input from any video camera that is natively recognized by your Mac and by Quicktime. Used with your iSight, GCam creates a virtual, high quality, fully functional DV camcorder. Used with a DV camcorder, GCam creates a fully capable video recording system. Click the Start Recording button on the GCam monitor window, use the Pause control to start and stop recording, and simply click the Stop Recording button to end your recording session, and to automatically save the .mov format clip you just created to your desktop. After you've collected your clips, you can then open them in Quicktime (or Quicktime Pro), Final Cut Pro or Express, Avid, or any NLE software that reads a .mov video file. You can even drag and drop your GCam clips directly into iMovie 3, as well!

What's new in this version:

Version 1.2 of GCam adds support to view and record video in full 720x480 pixel DV Video format, a convenient email size 160x120 format, as well as in several PAL formats. It also includes enhanced functionality in OS X 10.3 Panther, as well as several minor bug fixes.

The file will not download from this site and I can't seem to find it anywhere else. i tried the address that the last guy posted, but the archived file was damaged and couldn't be used. Is there now no way to get this program?

GCam CommentaryAll links are dead, sadly. - Version: 1.2, 8/9/2006 01:08PM PST

SinceEBCDIC
DVForge, which redirects to MacMice, seem to have removed all traces of GCam 1.2 from their site. I've sent email to them, and to the program's creator, Ben Bird, but no luck so far. Just FYI; the app distribution and development seem dead, dead, dead.
