Product Description:

ArtMatic Voyager is a new application by Eric Wenger, father of Bryce 3D, that allows artists to create, explore and render stunning, photo-realistic 3D worlds with exquisite detail. It uses non-polygonal rendering techniques that allow huge worlds (several times larger than Earth) to be created from compact files. ArtMatic Voyager worlds can be based on either the built-in planet models or external ArtMatic files. ArtMatic Pro (available separately or as a bundle companion) can be used to design entirely new terrains, color textures, cloudscapes and backdrops.

The simple, modeless user interface makes exploration and design both easy and fun. ArtMatic Voyager can render both high-resolution images and animation. The large library of provided examples makes it easy to begin exploring right away, and the advanced tutorials provide instruction on using ArtMatic Pro to design new worlds from scratch.

So let me talk about This new version, which is entirely different from the earlier versions. For one thing it now runs in the background should you choose to. You have more control over the sun (the source of light here on these worlds) and now you can turn it off visually though it still lights the scene it is able to be invisible in the scenes sky. The presets are, like they say, a really easy source of being able to create "right out of the box". If you started with JUST ONE WORLD from the presets and started making artwork, by this time next year, if you made 3 or 4 pictures a day, you might have explored ONE TENTH of that world and there are literally hundred of worlds to explore.. Well you can imagine just how long it would take to run out of NEW stuff to explore and create pictures with... secondly, since it is non polygonal and is fractal based and the textures are procedural, no matter how far away or how close you get, you have crisp super detailed images.. not blurred out, DULL images like a lot of world making programs...

If you also purchase the Artmatic Pro Application as well you can make your own worlds, skies, clouds, textures, surfaces and what have you... this greatly increases your ability to create new and visually stunning worlds of your own from scratch..oh, and did I say that it has some of the finest water effects anywhere?? Both of these either seperately or together make some magnificent artwork...

Now lets talk about the support for these programs.. They have not only some of the quickest replies to problems where they help you till you get it right but also a uilist user group on the net for any kind of help you need .. from simple questions like how do I get a certain shadow technique to why does my program act like this and what do I do to fix it..they REALLY work with you on this stuff and you definitely get the feeling these guys want you to be happy with their software.. Not just blow you off after they get your money.. Another plus is that it is MADE just for Mac users... It is MAC ONLY and they don't even plan to make a PC version.. They use mac and they program for mac so it isn't just a PC program ported over but a TRUE native mac program. I bought this program many years ago and have upgraded to the latest version.. In all of those years I have never been sorry I got this program and along with Poser make up a large percentage of my art work. It's one of those programs that is easy to get hooked on and the kind that right after you get it your wife starts getting jealous of your spending so much time doing it..just plain old addictive...

I have seen programs come up here and seen people raving about the application and thought to myself, hey, these guys must be working with the people that make this program or they are getting some kind of kickback for the hype they put into the feedback.... WELL, I can assure you that the ONLY reason I am so excited and am willing to say ALL of this stuff is because this app is just plain AWESOME and I have had so much pleasure with mine.. If you buy this program, it WON'T be one that you wish you hadn't bought the day after you get it.. You will be on one of the art gallery sites raving about how much you love your Voyager program and proud about the picture you just made.. I have seen that happen to people over and over and over again so I KNOW..

You can DO what you want but the ones that get this.. just wait and see if I'm lyin' or not...

ArtMatic Voyager ReviewUnbelievable still images and draw-dropping video footage - Version: 1.0, 12/16/2003 07:54PM PST

I'm a long-time user of most of U&I Software's media applications. These visionary creative tools are often designed to work in tandem and are always much deeper, more robust and uniquely featured than is possible to glean at first or second glance. They are truly, without question, tools that will continue to grow with you as you continue to work with and learn them. In the best sense what is exciting about the U&I Software apps is how, for me, they are one of the few digital media suites that are analagous to traditional media. Oil paint, for example, can be used with a tremendous number of techniques and styles. The same is true for clay, pencil, film and even photography. The same is true for U&I applications to a degree that no other digital media programmers have been able to attain.

ArtMatic Voyager:
Stunning, beautifully rendered, awe-inspiring visual images are avaiable at the push of a few buttons. Better yet, move around few initial worlds offered right out-of-the-box and really explore what is there. Each one of the four included "Planets" is many times larger than the planet earth. That's quite a bit of ground to cover and that's simply using the most basic, random and default settings!

Make a quantum leap beyond what anyone has seen before by desiging and importing your own ArtMatic structures. Use these to generate completely new terrain and planets, new cloud layers, animated terrain and clouds and gradients from the most intensely realistic images to the most far-out and other-worldly places.

If you've ever explored ArtMatic, and especially if you've read through the tutorials and have begun to purposefully design your own structures, I can almost guarantee that you will instantly fall in love with ArtMatic Voyager and it's potential.

I've used ArtMatic for over a year now. Completely fantastic and inspiring. As soon as Voyager was offered (Eric Wenger has been teasing us with screenshots for a number of months now) I purchased the app. I've worked with it since then and whole-heartedly recommend this to any lovers of 3-D terrain builders, fractal imagery, animated landscapes, algorithmic terrain generation, and U&I Software.

Excuse me because I've got to locate another CPU to render all of this material so I don't continuously sap my CPU while rendering video footage on my laptop.

Best regards,
Logicat
