Product Description:

CodeTek VirtualDesktop revolutionizes the way that you work in Mac OS X by giving you the ability to truly multitask. If you work with more than one application at a time, as most Mac users do, then your screen usually fills up with windows pretty quickly. With CodeTek VirtualDesktop, you see only the windows for the task you're currently working on. When you start a new task, switch to an empty virtual desktop and open all the windows you need. When you need to switch back to a task, just go back to its desktop, and you'll see only that task's windows, just as you had left them. It's that simple.

What's new in this version:

  1. Automatic desktop switching
Closing an application no longer causes a desktop switch, which was happening in Beta 2 under some circumstances. Beta 3 has also fixed a problem where the desktop was automatically changing to another desktop (besides the one chosen) through a hotkey desktop change. Selecting an application in the Dock should now cause a desktop switch to the correct desktop.

  2. Hold mouse in window's title bar and changing desktop
Holding the mouse down in a window's title bar when changing desktops with hotkeys now properly brings that window to the new desktop.

  3. Mail.app
When hovering the mouse over the Mail.app drawer with focus follows mouse enabled, a jump in the CPU used by VirtualDesktop would occur. This problem has been corrected. When using Unsanity's 'minimize in place' feature of WindowShade with Mail.app, the main window of Mail.app could permanently go away upong switching desktops. You can now 'minimize in place' Mail.app and not encounter this problem.

  4. Clear hotkey crash
Beta 3 fixes a bug that caused VirtualDesktop to crash when clearing hotkey's in some cases.

  5. Windows never appearing on screen
Some newly created windows were showing up in the pager but were never being displayed on screen. Beta 3 has fixed this behavior and all windows should now be properly displayed.

  6. Drawers flickering in Expos?
Fixed a remaining bug that caused drawers to still flicker in Expos? under some circumstances.

  7. Focus follows mouse and the pager
If the pager is set to display at the normal window level, and focus follows mouse is enabled with autoraise, then the pager will activate via focus follows mouse.

  8. Pager autohide and locking pager to screen edge
Numerous bugs have been fixed involving locking the pager to the screen edge and autohide. Changing screen resolutions, activating Expos?, and toggling the pager visibility no longer will cause the pager to move offscreen and be inaccessible or break its autohiding functionality. The pager can also now be placed on an edge between monitors properly and also will allow itself to be placed on the edges of monitors with different resolutions. The speed of autohiding has also been improved.

  9. Popup image
The popup image fade times have been improved. Fixed a bug that caused the popup image to display its text improperly if the pager was not on the main monitor.

  10. Only affect main monitor
This functionality now works properly and windows are properly displayed in the pager.

  11. Eudora
Eudora is now properly displayed on screen along with its drawer.

  12. X11
X11 support now works properly if 'enable network clients' is not enabled. This was previously causing VirtualDesktop to slow down significantly. Focus follows mouse no longer causes X11 to work in a "sloppy focus" mode. Cut and paste now works again. Fixed bug where some X11 windows would become sticky and not managed by VirtualDesktop.

  13. Modal dialog boxes
All modal dialog boxes are now sticky.

  14. Set hotkey text
Fixed a typo in the set hotkey text.

  15. Daylite
A third party application called Daylite was not switching properly when selected from the Dock. This behavior has been fixed.

  16. AppleScript
Both the "switchToDesktop" and "moveApplication" AppleScript methods now works properly.

CodeTek VirtualDesktop Pro ReviewGood: Beta for Intel Mac now available. Bad: Doesn't work. - Version: 4.0b1, 6/28/2008 01:52PM PST

I downloaded the Intel Mac beta and installed it (it required a reboot), and tried to launch it. After a dialog asking for my admin password and telling me to relaunch, nothing else happened. The system logs and crash logs tells me there was a major crash because of "unsafe use of @executable_path".
