Product Description:

This a collection of shell and applescripts that allow TeX typesetting and the use of various TeX tools like makeindex, metapost, bibtex, and tex4ht without any front end. For example, it is possible to produce a html output from a source file by a simple click. TeX errors can be located even in the case of multiple input files.

Four small applications, droplets, are also included, named pdfselect, flip folder, dvipdf and ps2pdf. The first allows to extract pages from an arbitary pdf file saving the result in one or several pdf files depending on your wishes. The second is based on the binary flip by Craig Stuart Sapp and changes the line endings of the tex files in a given folder according to your specifications. The formats unix, dos, and mac are possible. The other two rely on the equally named shell scripts. You will have the choice to name the output pdf files.

What's new in this version:

Version 2.0: As of version 2.0 it is assumed that the scripts run in BBEdit v.8. Since there are subtle but important differences between version 7 and version 8, as far as Applescripting is concerned, only BBEdit v. 8 is supported from now on. All scripts have been rewritten and should be replaced. The most important changes are:
  • All scripts, except the htlatex scripts, produce an error message, when a latex error occcurs. The altpdflatex scripts didn't produce an error message before.
  • The pdf preview application, called the previewer, has to be specified in the scripts, not in the source file. All scripts, which are concerned, already have a predefined previewer according to my taste. If your taste is different, then changing the previewer is easy: Option doubleclicking a script in the script palette opens the script in the Script Editor.
Please, notice, that the non-TeXShop previewers also always produce a refreshed pdf file, if in System Preferences/Universal Access the command "Enable access for assistive devices" is checked, which is a prerequisite.

Update
  • all scripts in ~/Library/Application\ Support/BBEdit/Scripts
  • the subroutines preview_bbedit and setnamebbedit in ~/Library/TeXShop/Scripts
  • the shell script pdflatexc in ~/Library/TeXShop/bin.
