SpeedTools Utilities CommentaryToo much trouble - Version: 2.8.1, 6/28/2008 12:44PM PST

Steve W
Complicated list of bundled utilities. Can I get just one? Can I get a trial/demo version?

I spent as much time on the developers website as I can afford so my impression may be mistaken but from what I can see...
a) It's really one app with all the utilities bundled in
b) There's no demo or trial version available
c) It costs $90

If it lives up to the claims it's probably a good utility but...
I'm not going to spend $90 to find out. I'll just buy a new hard drive for that price.

SpeedTools Utilities ReviewMedia Scanner. That's Why You Should Buy This - Version: 2.6, 12/1/2007 05:30PM PST

This app is great primarily for one reason. Media Scanner. Unlike TechTool Pro which can only find bad blocks, this app can reallocate them thereby fixing your drive. This is the only app I know of that will do this. This app will save your data on the bad blocks. Nothing else will. Additionally, zeroing all data via Disk Utility doesn't always reallocate the bad blocks either, and it definately doesn't save your data either.

To me that alone is well worth the price.
