Product Description:

SubRosaSoft CipherDisk provides privacy from anybody for your OS X disks. Firstly by hiding your protected disks, and secondly by performing strong encryption on all of the information being written to the disks, your data is instantly protected from prying eyes. Your disks remain the same in everyday use. The only change is that to mount a disk (make it appear on the desktop), you launch CipherDisk then type the correct password.

Because of the highly secure "Volume Based Encryption" provided, this is widely considered enough to stop any institution on earth from being able to access your data when it is protected with this program. And because the encryption is volume based, no information about what is on your disks can be obtained when using CipherDisk. From your filenames down to what kind of documents your disks contain, it is all unknown without the password when CipherDisk is used.

What's new in this version:

  • Support for CD/DVD - CipherDisk can now create and burn password protected CDs and DVDs without the use of third party applications. These disks are fully encrypted and are as easy to use as a normal CD/DVD (except of course you have to know the password to use them).
  • Support for Disk Images - CipherDisk can create and use disk images (also known as virtual volumes). Standard size images and dynamically resized images can be created simply. These disk images are a file on your disk until you "mount" them. Once mounted it operates as a normal disk.
  • Support for AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) - In our continuing effort to integrate the latest technologies we have added AES to the encryption methods. This new method adds to the list of industry recognised encryption systems that were present in version 1.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.2 or higher

Lost my complete La Cie FireWire Drive. 200 MB simply gone. WOW this is the best disk shredder on the world.

I'm stinky!!! I have data that has to be protected NOT lost. I looked around for a better tool and PGP seems to be similar. Finally I found Ghost Sphere Pro. This one is cheap and fits my needs perfectly. Upon request the maker told me that it does not modify any drivers and even the faults are pure Apple Technology. They can be backed up with ease. My experience with this new tool is only a couple of days and may not be enough to rate it.

SubRosaSoft CipherDisk CommentaryNo problems with Tiger 10.4.1 - Version: 2.0, 7/10/2005 01:31PM PST

CipherDisk works with Tiger 10.4.1 on my G5 DP 1.8 withot any problems. I've no idea, why Subrosa tells, CipherDisk 2 would not be ready for Tiger.
This software is very stable. Since I'm using CipherDisk, there was never a problem with this software or with my encrypted data.
My wish for next version: A GUI that looks more professional an Mac-like. Also, CipherDisk could be faster on start-up until password dialog is ready.
