SilverFast SE is a powerful solution from LaserSoft Imaging which combines the best of both worlds: high-end imaging technology for low-end scanners for a very low cost. We specially designed SilverFast SE for flatbed and film scanner. Images will especially benefit from SilverFast's intelligent auto-adjust and LAB-based unsharp-masking, which does not sharpen the color noise of single channels, hence avoiding the extra noise. - Enhanced Automatic Descreening. The new enhanced descreening is able to auto-detect the screen of the original. The user is able to apply it as a full automated function without any necessary adjustments or as half automated version with auto-detection and user individual settings in a dialog.

- Canon CanoScan 8600F: Scanner will be calibrated on the first prescan or scan now to avoid drifts in brightness on successive scans that could occur when scanning with a "cold" device.
- Scan frame: Look of scan frame changed. Instead of cross-hairs for rotating half-arcs can be used now. Also active frame is blinking in order to be noticed easier.
- Nikon: Fixed an issue with embedded Kodachrome profiles when using HDR scan mode of SilverFast and opening the resulting image files in Photoshop without processing the images in SilverFast HDR/DCPro before.

I too am getting sick of this SiverFast marketing spam in VT. The repeative listings for the same software for different scanners is getting to be more than just tedious.

do they HAVE to post every single scanner they support. How about just posting major updates, and letting users go to the website to check if they're scanner is listed.
I'm just sick of seeing SilverFast take up half the software listings, so often. It's just SPAM, nothing more. I use VueScan. And after all the spam from SilverFast I would do everything possible to avoid using their software.
Try VueScan. It's great software, and they don't spam you.

To comment on the two users below:
Vue scan is just one software whereas SilverFast has multiple packets and configurations for a wide range of different scanners. I am glad to see if there is a new version out for my particular model. I am sure other users are also.
I can highly recommend SilverFast I am using it on multiple scanners as well as
the digital camera version. If quality matters to you go for SilverFast.
