Gaichu CommentaryA Worthwhile Effort - Version: 1.1, 6/4/2004 12:54PM PST

Contrary to what bwexlar said, this game is a clone not of Pacman, but Lady Bug from Universal dating back to 1981. So yes, it is a Pacman clone but so were most games of that era. But whereas the original Japanese cabinet art for the 80's Lady Bug has a hall of fame look, the current incarnation on the Mac can only be described as an ephemeral me-too anime. The original picture can be found here.

I only hope this game will go through many revisions to eventually be realized in full 3D featuring those gorgeous nymphs from the original cabinet art. Perhaps they can even be super deformed for cuteness effect.

It's nicely done, it looks neat - and it's free. That's more than you can say about most commercial games. Five stars from me!

Gaichu ReviewNot Promising - Version: 1.1, 12/1/2003 02:21PM PST

Honestly, this game is a major letdown.

It is beyond me that there are actually hardware requirements for this game.

There is not a one thing "3D" about Gaichu. It is a wholly unoriginal twist on Pac Man. Most Gameboy games exceed Gaichu in terms of graphics, gameplay, and definitely design.

And they actually want to submit it to a gaming competition . . . maybe 10 years ago.
