Bottom Line Up Front:
Charging for an internet browser nowadays is rare. Paid for browsers should feature every ease use capability the free versions provide, PLUS something special. KidsBrowser 3.6 provides the later, but not the former.
Used the trail version of KidsBrowser 3.6. Here is my review:
I'm looking for a browser for my 7 and 8 year old boys who are discovering a need for the computer. The KidsBrowser interface is good for them, allowing for easy navigation. But I'm having great difficulty with setting it up for my childrens' needs. Specific problems are:
- Can't change the order of the favorites, either by drag and drop or by moving up and down in the preferences pane. To place in the desired order, I was forced to delete all the favorites, write down the order I wanted the sites in, and add them according to my list.
- Hard to grab screen shots for favorites (which is otherwise usefully feature). Here is the sequence:
1 find the site
2 open preferences
3 select favorites
4 open screen capture
5 move the preferences window aside to see the details window (see below)
6 select the favorite for capture
7 press the capture button
8 press okay
9 close the details
10 save preferences
and all this assumes I already made the site a favorite. This grab should happen when the favorite is made or by F7 key.
- Details window consistantly pops up behind preferences window. When trying to change settings within settings (as above) I was continuously forced to move windows side to get the requested one. Simple fix, have your pop ups appear on top.
- Couldn't find a help file linked to the program. I exited the program, launched Safari and navigated through the company site for support, but it failed to address any of the topics above in any form.
All these difficulties and a $49 price tag doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I have two daugthers (5 and 3 years old). They love it. I just expanded the favorites with some additional sites. I also created a printer setting for color draft so that they can print their coloring pages at will.
I hope the developers fix the problems that the adults have found. I have not been affected.

Version 3.7 fix all know problems and improve favorites management.
The steps needed to edit favorites are now much more simple.
