If I wanted to look at this much OS X "Brushed Metal" wrap I can go and look at the cheap pots and pans at Costco, driving my falling apart DeLorien.
Apple has the estetic tastes of a Former Soviet Army Interior Decorator.
This app (and I hope a lot more like this) are VERY Welcomed!

The Mac OS is just as much about personal aesthetics as it is about "actual funtions." From the macro to the micro I'm certain that every detail of the Aqua UI was intensly discussed during development. Why lament this interest beyond the Apple UI team? Third party developers and end users input is essentially an ongoing contribution to the future design of the Mac OS. Personally, such focus on the "look" of even a relatively small issue such as iTune's gradient is no different than being obsessive about what colors and patterns to use in the interior design of your own house. I've replaced most Aqua design elements from my machine with ShapeShifter using Max Rudberg's Milk theme (I even went further and did my own "Gray Milk" mod of this theme). Some of us are just more visually oriented, I suppose.
Has worked fine so far.
