Product Description:

Backup Simplicity is a set-and-forget backup utility. It makes a daily bootable backup of your OS X system disk to another directly-connected IDE or FireWire disk. It makes the backup even if you're logged out, or the computer is sleeping. It will save a history of old versions of your files, to the extent of available disk space, and keep a copy of that history on your system disk for safekeeping.

What's new in this version:

Fixed a problem which caused some serial numbers to not be accepted.

Backup Simplicity ReviewHighly recommended - Version: 3.0.4, 3/26/2007 12:52PM PST

I have been using Backup Simplicity for over 2 years. It works flawlessly day after day. I have been saved more than once when my primary hard drive crashed but I had an exact clone on my backup drive thanks to this software. I have complete confidence in it.

Backup Simplicity ReviewNot reliable - Version: 3.0.2, 10/23/2006 02:19PM PST

I have used version 2.x for about a year and recently 3.02. BSIMP has stopped working on my system. The background process simply quits after about 2 hours into the backup. I have had to return to good ole Carbon Copy Cloner.

I cannot believe it is this difficult to make a reliable and fail-safe backup solution...

Backup Simplicity CommentaryNot impressive - Version: 3.0.2, 4/6/2006 08:19PM PST

I tried 'Simplicity out, but went back to SuperDuper!. There's just no comparison, and SuperDuper! is only $30.

I had been using CarbonCopyCloner, but since it is no longer under devlopment, I don't trust it for critical backups. I also tried out iBackup, but found the interface annoying and it wasn't very configurable.

Since I own a tower, price is very important to me. If I'm going to spend $50 on backup software, why not just slip in a RAID card for true backup simplicity?
