DisplayConfigX CommentaryThis is a PowerPC-only app. - Version: 1.09, 9/3/2009 06:51PM PST

francissawyer
Unfortunately this app is PowerPC-only and requires Rosetta. It's time to recompile this thing for Intel; even the OS doesn't support PowerPC anymore (as of SnowLeopard).

DisplayConfigX Reviewinterlaced modes *do* work for MacMini - Version: 1.09, 3/18/2006 12:15AM PST

Just wanted to give this guy full credit! With generous email support from the author, i realised my problem (reported earlier) was just pilot error. I am now easily able to output interlaced video formats from my MacMini (Early 2006 model, Intel Core Duo, with the intel GMA 950 graphics chipset). I'd like the user interface to be a wee bit more obvious, but it surely gets the job done! Excellent stuff!

DisplayConfigX Troubleshooting ReportNo 1080i for new MacMini? - Version: 1.09, 3/16/2006 12:37PM PST

I wrote to the author several days ago, and did not hear back.

The author claims "compatability with the new MacMini", however, I can not make it work with 1080i. I see others are having success with 1080i on other machines. When I add that resolution and restart, it does NOT show up in the menu (as 480p does show up). What am I doing wrong?

The software seems to be perfect, except I can't find value in it if it doesn't work on my setup. I'm happy to re-evaluate if i've done something wrong. Thanks.

t worked !. It was my mistake, I did not have the October, 2004 Firmware Rom update from ATI. Now I have a full 1920X1080i resolution on my TV. What a difference. The greatest pice of software written for the Mac. Everyone should connect a Mac to their HD TV and you will see what I am talking about. Your photos come to live. Thanks

DisplayConfigX ReviewA dream come true but not just yet ! - Version: 1.07, 3/19/2005 07:14AM PST

It is a great app. I use it to connect my G4 to my HD TV using VGA. My TV support 1080i and I was waiting for the interlaced support to get full resolution. Version 1.0.7 allow interlaced setup with the required frequencies but when I restart, it does not show the interlaced resolutions ! in the display control panel. I am using ATI Radeon 8500 (64 MB) which is supported. I guess I still have to wait. I am willing to pay again for a working interlaced version or even upgrade my graphic card if 1080i is not possible on my current card.

for my eMac, the screen moves 2 inches to the left.
I can correct this in the 'Display/Geometry' Pref pane, but when I restart, it reverts 2 inches left...

My MDD had developed kernel panics which I had erroneously attributed to DisplayConfigX and subsequently posted a comment here. Turned out this fine utility had -nothing- to do with this issue. Apple has replaced the motherboard and CPUs 3 times (so far).

I deleted my original comment and added the correction to the Apple discussions. Thank you, Harald, for assisting!

I had recently bought an external LCD display for my PowerBook, but was having problems when using DVI. The screen would twitch back and forth, so I had to use the VGA to DVI adapter. I even went to Apple and they said the problem was from the PowerBook having DVI-I and the monitor having DVI-D, but the more I looked into the problem I figured out that the single resolution Apple would let me use may be the problem. With this app I was able to add a resolution with a different refresh rate and now the monitor works perfectly under DVI!!!!! Too bad I spent $ on different cables before I found this program.

your montor have no display control?

can you see a button (n.b.: not the power button!) around the bottom of your monitor screen? try pressing it.

(does that not give you the option to alter your display, i.e., shift, size change, colour modification, etc?)
