ShapeShifter is a revolutionary new product that lets you change the overall appearance of your Mac using 'themes'. What's new in this version:
- ShapeShifter no longer causes instabilities when used with Apple's Pro applications.
- ShapeShifter now works properly with beta versions of Safari 3.
- Cocoa pull-down menus now use the correct text color when pressed.
- Cocoa box titles now use the correct text color.
- guiTweak now presents a more informative error dialog when an insurmountable error prevents tweaking from concluding properly.
- ShapeShifter now honor's Camino's "CAMINO_DISABLE_HACKS" environment variable.
- The preference pane no longer erroneously states that new version "(null)" is available when an internet connection is present, but is unreliable.
- ShapeShifter now properly handles OS versions with a bugfix number greater than 9 (e.g., OS X 10.4.10).
- Windows bmp "magic pink" transparency conversion now works properly on x86 machines.
- Adding a new guiKit to the ShapeShifter prefpane no longer causes the names of guiKits that are available to all users on the computer to disappear from the ShapeShifter prefpane.
- Resolved an obscure issue that could cause applications to crash occasionally when ShapeShifter is loaded.

Here are 4 apps I've found which have problems booting so you should add them to your Shapeshifter Exclude List:

ok, in shapeshifter prefs there is an exclude pane, you can prevent shapeshifter from applying the current mods to certain apps before they're launched, so they're not affected. So I just added Minefield which is that unauthorized beta I told you about before, so I can still use FF3 while having the rest of my system modded by Shapeshifter.
My problem now is that I can't seem to add any more icontainers to Shapeshifter. It seems to add them, I see the text and progress bar at the bottom of the window, but then after it finishes, nothing is added to the icon sets menu. I've tried quitting, I've tried restoring system defaults before adding icontainers but I can't get it to add them and I was wondering what's up.
I thought maybe only some icontainer sets would be valid but every one i've tried, which is like 5 or 6, hasn't worked.
Now I'm deleting all the unnecessary ones thinking maybe SS has an upper storage limit.

It does what shapeshifter does in file overwriting (with backup of course) way.
IMHO Unsanity should have released a Leopard edition without APE exactly. Well, some people have done it.
Shapeshifter's method is still the safest and way more reliable. If you keep running Tiger, there is no reason to give up.
It seems we lost shapeshifter thanks to the anti ape trolls and jealous developers. Hopefully I will be proved wrong but it seems so...
