I?ve just bought a 9800Pro Mac Edition: I followed the steps and the software reports my card is not eligible for upgrade. I may have a recent ROM already?

ATI RADEON ROM Update ReviewWorked fine on 7000 Mac Edition card - Version: Aug 2005, 8/16/2005 08:29PM PST

Followed the directions specifying the Safe Boot and no applications running during the update.

After the re-start (prompted by a dialogue at the end of the installation), I noticed that several files had been added to the trash.

The 7000 ME card is in a 266-mhz Beige G3 (rev A) running OS 10.4.2 (enabled by XPostFacto 4.0b5). XPF 4.0b5 also has made it possible for the old Beige to do a Safe Boot, something that was not possible earlier.

for the average computer user, even the more savvy Mac user ;-). Three things to keep in mind if you're going to run this: Safe Boot from shut down, not Restart. Be sure once you Safe Boot that no other apps are running (Dashboard excluded apparently), and carefully notice the installation buttons- Disagree is defaulted in the Wizard. This app ran correctly on my Dual 2GHz G5 with 9800 Pro, 10.4.2 and I look forward to its performance improvements including frozen cursor fix, wake from sleep, etc..
