Apple Java Security ReviewBroke Mail App - Version: 1.4.2 Update 2, 4/29/2005 02:22PM PST

This sorry "update" has prevented me from retrieving messages with Mail 1.2.11 on both my G# and G4 12" laptop. I have resrted to using Entourage 2004 - a program I don't like. Why does Apple release software without testing?

Apple Java Security Troubleshooting ReportUpdate Broke My Citrix Client Connection - Version: 1.4.2 Update 2, 10/1/2004 08:04PM PST

bbooks--2008
I installed this Java 1.4.2 update and now my Citrix Client connection no longer works. Instead I get this error message:

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.ConnectionCenter

So now I can't connect and work from remote locations. Anyone have any suggestions for how to get out of this?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Apple Java Security Troubleshooting ReportProblem with X11 operation - Version: 1.4.2 Update 2, 9/29/2004 05:05PM PST

The new Java apparently reset the window arrangement on my G5 because Xwindows that formerly worked fine drew the window in a weird place on my screen and did not function correctly. Once I rearranged the two windows under display preferences so that the auxiliary window was on the right of the main screen everything functioned correctly.

Apple Java Security CommentaryWorks great for me - Version: 1.4.2 Update 2, 9/26/2004 11:06PM PST

Starting with update 1.4.2v1, and now continued with v2 -- FINALLY Apple's Java has 'passed' my personal 'test' -- Yahoo Games. I play the Pinochle, and all the previous versions of 1.4 would leave text ragged. Not now, smooth as silk. But only after I 'checked the box' in prefs to "smooth text". Before, this was only possible in 1.3. Thank you Apple for keeping at it, and finally making Java as good as any other "program/app" we have.

*note* to Greg who posted below just a few, and wanting to revert back to 1.3 -- keep fishing, is a method of removing some "plist" (or something), and it works. The particulars are either posted here or at MacFixit -- keep looking and you should find it.

Apple Java Security Reviewdates broken again - Version: 1.4.2 Update 2, 9/25/2004 05:02PM PST

Miriam
For a long time, Fidelity Bill Pay would not recognize valid dates, saying "please give a date in the future". This was fixed in a previous iteration of Java, it is now broken again and I cannot pay my bill on line anymore using Safari. Why does Apple fix something, only to break it in what is supposed to be an improvement?

Apple Java Security Troubleshooting ReportSafari and Mail quit after install - Version: 1.4.2 Update 2, 9/24/2004 10:58AM PST

Safari and Mail quit after install. I fixed it by opening keychain,
going to options and resetting keychains. All else appears to be ok.
