Only just switched to Mac at home (used them extensively through work) and reckon this has huge potential for designers accros the board. But, shareware doesn't = freeware for mac or somehting? The annoying 'buy me' dialogue box that pops up in the middle renders this useless.

And yeah, if it wasn't in the task bar thing it'd feel better implemented.

I know this is almost 4 years late.

Nice work though.

DesktopCollage ReviewWorks fine on Tiger! - Version: 2.0.1, 5/16/2005 02:26AM PST

Pres!
I just installed this little gem to my newly-Tiger-ified iMac and it works like a charm. Letting Mac OS automatically change my desktop images is nice, but it's no substitute for having an ever-editable/resizable/freely-arrangable selection of my favorite pictures as the desktop.

I also use this for the more "serious" task of putting reference images relating to my current project on the desktop, so they're always available via Expose's F11 hotkey. Quite handy.

DesktopCollage ReviewExcitement, Perfection, Excellence - Version: 1.12, 11/16/2003 03:43PM PST

Andreas..

This is the greatest visual revolution I have experienced since switching to X a year ago. Within minutes of d/loading it I had a dozen Disney characters interfering with things all over my desktop. I then remembered a folder of transparent gifs I had created in OS 8.6 and had thought I would never use again without a lot of work - within minutes I had several new collages.

That was two days ago, and I keep going back to it as a fresh idea comes. Simplicity itself to use, works flawlessly - I cannot recommend this app too highly.

Andreas (well, he just has to be good desn't he!) - When you have the time please consider implementing a "tolerance" setting so that, for example, a graded background can be dealt with without having to use another app first.

Andreas

DesktopCollage Usage TipThanks for your feedback, feenix - Version: 1.11, 11/7/2003 12:18PM PST

Actually there are a number of ways to deselect stickers:
a) Click on the 'Deselect All' button in the Navigator panel, that pops up whenever a sticker is selected.
b) Hit the return key.
c) Choose 'Deselect All' in the 'Edit' menu (as you mentioned).
d) Check option 'Send collage to desktop' in the preferences panel. With this option checked, all stickers are deselected, when another program gets activated.

Multiple monitor support and the ability to hide the dock icon will be considered for a future version of DesktopCollage.

Please, keep your feedback coming!

It's a good start, but it's got a few steps before it's great.

1) Clicking on a stickie inverts it and it's not readily apparent how to resolve this (deslecting all via the edit menu does the trick, but so should clicking on the desktop.

2) Multiple monitor support would be great

3) Make the app not show in the dock this is pretty easy

4) i've had the thing for under 10 minutes there is no 4.
